Awesome for the money. Best greens and fairways will return soon.
Nice greens.
Nice open layout, big course feel. Some interesting doglegs. Grass is a little thin on some tees and fairways, but the greens made up for it. Fun day.
Fairways are very sparse. Tee boxes are not level for the most part. If they were watered and fertilized one might have a better opinion. Club Link courses in Ontario, Canada are far superior than this club link course.
Great Greens
This course has taken it to the next level with their greens. VERY NICE. Fairways and tee boxes a bit spotty in places, but it didn't detract from enjoyment at all. Layout is player friendly, but still a challenge with the small undulating greens.
Rushed
I’ve played here recently and enjoyed it. However this time was terrible. I arrived 20 minutes before my tee time and I was rushed to the tee box. Literally. I was aware they wanted me to tee off however I just got there and as I tried to drive past the started to use the restroom he kept waving me down saying no and pointing to the palms. Obviously I had no choice but to tee up. No restroom break till after hole 4. No one likes to play being rushed. Then my wife was learning how to play yet a foursome behind us kept hitting up on us. Won’t go back unless I get a hot deal.
Did not impress...
I’ll start by saying the pub staff was fantastic and the food was good! I arrived and the course staff was in shambles....the starter was MIA and the woman in the pro shop was obviously frustrated and less than cordial. The course layout was nice but the maintenance was lacking. Greens were fair but the fairways looked like pasture. Good value for beginners maybe but not what I expected from the other reviews
Single
I was a single and they put me behind an older gentleman group of 12 that literally teed off after I pulled up. Let me explain. I drive up to tee box one. I see a threesome at the senior tees hanging out. They look at me like I’m unwelcome as I’m only 33 then they tee off as another cart was pulling up behind me. He sits a few paces behind me as I’m thinking he’s by himself perhaps I’m paired with him. Turns out that another car of two pull up behind him and they’re with him. I say hi how’s it going. They look at me as a single and tell me how they’re with the group that just tees off and also they’re other people are behind them. So I say / suggest maybe I should play ahead. They say eh. Then drive past me and tee off on the senior tees. Hmmm. ... that cool. So before the other group came I teed off to split them up. Unprofessional older group. I know for certain on a par 5 I had an incredible drive and it was close enough to their shots they picked up my ball. I shot an 83 that day with two mulligans no reason I had to be at that pace behind those folk. O well. The course it nice. Needs a map or something since I’ve only played once and haven’t a clue to the layout.
Not interested in playing there again
The Oaks 9-hole course is not in good shape. The golf cart practically had no brakes (had to stop 30 ft. away to be sure I stopped without hitting anything) and was not in good shape (torn seat). The Lakes 9-hole course was in much better shape.
Nice day in Sun City
Sandpiper is just minutes off I-75 in Sun City. It's a nice course with 3 different 9 hole layouts. We played the Oaks and the Lakes. The greens were very nice.
Also, nice merchandise in the pro shot--I bought a shirt. After golf, we enjoyed the indoor/outdoor bar/grill area.
Disappointed
Fairway grass is too sparse. Hitting most fairway shots off the deck is not enjoyable experience. Playing Club Link courses in Canada is a totally different experience. As a snowbird I’m disappointed with the conditions I’m finding a lot of public courses here in Florida
Good course. Be ready to spend the day. Slow play
Good course. Friendly staff. People without tee times were allowed on in front of us. Frustrating. It was windy but still fun. Fairways and greens are in great shape. Worth the $ and time. Just don’t make plans to play in under 5+ hours.
Poor course management.
Very slow pace. At one time we had 4 groups on one hole. No rangers were seen on the course
Cold day in Florida.
We drove 50 miles from Venice, Florida, and the weather was cool by Florida standards. Our foursome played in less than 4 hours mainly because we had the course to ourselves. Only one other foursome did we encounter during our play. The course was good +, interesting holes with water and enough sand to keep you honest. Our rate was good for this time of the year. The pro shop manager was very informative and very friendly. Small bag of balls was a bit pricey and driving range was mats only. Would go back in better weather and pay a similar price from Golf Now.
