The Hooch Golf Club sits along the Chattahoochee River in Duluth, sprawling across a scenic landscape covered with ponds and lakes. The course is an executive, par-61 layout that combines traditional features with modern challenges. Although there aren't any par 5s on the golf course there are a few holes that stretch to over 400 yards, which guarantees that you'll be using all the clubs in your bag. There is plenty of water throughout the golf course, including three holes that play right along the river. It might not be what you're looking for if you want something truly formidable, but for a short course it's a good challenge that provides excellent iron practice. Besides the golf course, The Hooch is also known for its 12-acre, lighted driving range. There are also putting and chipping greens with a deep-faced practice bunker.

Great course for beginners and intermediate golfers
I love this course because it is great for beginners and intermediate players. It will help you work on your short game but it does still challenge you. All par 4s and 3s so it is not a long course nor does it take too long to play. The staff is great and the course is nice too.
Good course for tuning up your short game.
I was a little disappointed with my recent round at The Hooch, as the grass clearly hadn't been mowed for some time. Consequently, had a heck of a time finding balls, even in the fairway. Normally, it's very well-maintained, but I'd probably attribute the lack of maintenance to the unusually rainy summer. Still, it's a good value, and the staff is friendly and efficient.
Excelent course!
The course was in excellent shape. This was my first time playing the course, and I would highly recommend it. The rough, although not very high, was a challenge, as it swallowed up any balls hit into it. I definitely plan on playing the course again whenever I am in the area.
The course was well maintained and very playable.
From tee to green the playing conditions were very nice. My only negative comment concerns the condition of the cart paths. They need repair.
this course has a fun layout
This is a great course to play for you to work on your short game. Most of the par 3s are a wedge to the green. I wish they were a little longer so you could use more mid to long irons, All in all good for the money.
Great for the price
The greens were in great chape for the price. The only problem we ran into was a foreign couple whom teed off the back in the morning on the back 9 made the turn and went to the back 9 again in front of us and refused to let us play through even though they cleary should have been at the range rather than on the course. Other than that it was great.
SLOW
Nicely maintained, somewhat chellenging short course. Not a busy day but the groups ahead of us were so slow it was painful.
Nice for Your Short Game
This is a really nice executive course. The greens were in great shape. The fairways were neat. Got a little crowded in the morning, so go after noon if you can stand the heat. Love the course. Will go back.
Friendly service
I thought the staff was friendly and the course was in good condition.
Real nice exec course
A well-maintained course with some challenging holes. Part of a nice golf center. Nice greens. Good to see an exec course with some par 4s peppered in.
It is what it is - rustic muni for dirt cheap price
The Hooch is essentially a municipal golf course that is a mix of par 3's and par 4's of the 320 yard variety. The course has potential to be pretty good executive track, and is fine as it stands for what it is - a good course for beginners, and an opportunity for better players to enjoy a quick, quiet weekday round carrying only your irons. If I can get close to the same deal, I will go again - with a coupon code, it only cost me $11.52 including tax for 18 holes with a cart (I ditched the cart at the turn and walked to get some exercise - I played alone). It was wide open in the heat of the day and very peaceful. I recommend ignoring the yardage markers and you will be able to hit all your irons at least once (and your wedges many times). The greens were surprisingly smooth, although also slow and grainy. This grain feature was actually a nice little test of grain-reading skills, because it definitely is a factor. I played in about 2 hours 40 minutes, and that was walking the back 9. But, as I said, the course was a ghost town when I played, and the three groups I ran into let me play right through. I don't know if it always that empty, but it was nice to play alone with hardly anyone around.
Plays like Regulation
This was our first time here. I'm a 96 avg. while my partner was a pure beginner. We've both played next door at Peachtree Golf and were looking forward to the upgraded facilities and we weren't disappointed. It's a very pretty course and it plays in a way that you forget it's shorter length. It's got some imagination in it's layout that gave it a challenging twist. It proved too challenging for my partner and it was frustrating that the pace of play was too crowded for us to make the poor shots that beginners make. Even skipping a hole didn't relieve the pressure and that was the most disappointing thing about our round. Play was marshaled but I believe that starting times could have been spaced a little better while keeping lesser experienced groups together.
Great price course is well maintained.
My wife and I played the course on Memorial Day. It was very busy but the started got us off on time and we played it in 4 hours. The course is well maintained and a great buy. Will play this course again and also my wife likes it which you all know is very important.
Course in good shape, play was at agood pace, offered a good variety of challenges and the price was right
One of the best and most challenging executive courses I have played. Layout was good with good fairway separation. The course has ample water and vegetation yet plays at a good pace. We never felt stalled or rushed. The facilty provides lots of practice/warmup options - driving range, putting green and chipping/sand.
I will play the course again and will recommend it to friends and family.
Executive Course with a few very challenging holes, highly rewards accurate shots off the tee
Executive Course with a few very challenging holes, highly rewards accurate shots off the tee. Some narrow shots and water on many holes. Friendly staff and marshal. Last four holes very slow as four-somes got backed up.
Great course to play after work.
Greens are in great shape, and everything is well maintained. They have older gentlemen that work there as Starters and course Marshalls, and the guy that works Thursday afternoons is a cranky old guy. Everyone esle is as friendly as can be. Our group plays this course once a week.
Fun course to play
This executive course is always fun to play. It's well maintained and the greens are in excellent condition.
Greens are better than last year.
We were able to start right on time with our foursome and only had to let a couple and a single play through. Although it may be due to more rain than usual, the greens looked very good, as we'll as the fairways. There weren't any bare spots and it looked like people were taking care of divots. Even the sand traps had real sand in them rather than just mud and weeds. For the special price, this was an exceptional deal for playing after work. We played until dark and although it was right on time for last play, the marshal was patient enough to let us finish the hole we were on (17).
A little wet
Fairways are getting pretty inaccessible these days due to course management. Its annoying on a four-thousand yard course to have to walk out and back on every fairway. With restrictions like this, taking a cart is more of an impediment than an assistance when you have to hike in on every hole.
Greens are in good condition but fairways need some attention, the centipede is getting weedy, makes shots that should have been 'perfect lies' tough when you have to hit through a clump of junk to get your ball in the air from the center of the fairway.
Fun Golf Course
The course was very fun for a new golfer. The price I pay was also a great del from Golf Now. Will return and play again.
