Anderson Creek Golf Club
About
When Anderson Creek Golf Club first opened in 2001 it was immediately recognized as the "Best New Golf Course in North Carolina." The course was designed by 1997 PGA Championship winner Davis Love III, it was his first signature design in North Carolina. It has a traditional layout that epitomizes golf in the Carolina Sandhills. The layout features rolling emerald fairways lined with towering pines and undulating greens bordered by large roll-off areas, a tribute to the classic Donald Ross designs that are prevalent in the Sandhills. The challenging golf course has tricky doglegs and there are a variety of elevation changes throughout. Water comes into play on a few holes at Anderson Creek Golf Club, most memorably though on the par-3 fourth, which demands a carry over a large lake. Strategically placed bunkers also lurk along the greensides.

The par-3 fourth hole plays over water. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 12/20/2013
Just a gem!!
Some of the friendliest people you will meet. Great golf course with plenty of character. Make sure you take a look at 16 and 17 on the tee sheet as you choose your tee boxes. They are reallllllly long par 4's!! :)
Can't wait to go back and play again. It's in a neighborhood, but it doesn't seem as if it is; The houses are unobtrusive.....
Very well maintained
Excellent staff. The greens rolled very well.
Golf course was very clean in all aspects!
Will play there again upon my next visit to the area.
Very good course, many challenging holes.
This is the first time I ever played at Anderson Creek.
The course is very difficult the first time out, because of the many blind shots that you have to take. I plan on playing again next week and will remember some of the holes that I was afraid to hit.
very scenic
great layout and challenging.
made you think your way around the course.
many sand traps protecting greens.
A Course With Great Character
I play the Anderson Creek course when I have a few hours during a business trip and each time it's proved a worthy diversion. The course is located in a very well maintained gated community. Everyone I've encountered from the security personnel at the gate to the grounds crew have been exceptionally polite and welcoming. The club house is well appointed and the grill offers food and beverage selections to satisfy virtually any preference. The electric carts are in great shape...they are comfortably up to the task of moving you and your buddy with all of your gear around the undulating course with nary a whimper. The cart paths are smooth and they've been widened around the tighter corners to ease navigation and keep your cart's tires firmly plated on the concrete path.
The course itself is not too difficult in that landing areas off the tee are generally large and approches to the generous greens offer ready opportunities for glory. The hazards tend not to be too penal unless you really go Charles Barkley and flail one into nowhere land. An errant tee ball into the trees is usually recoverable with a chip out onto the fairway from the pine straw. There are a few holes with OB stakes deep in the trees so they are usually not an issue. I've played the course in the summer when the fairways are beautiful...very nice and a joy to hit from. I've also played in the winter...they are uniform and dormant without bare spots or standing mud. The course features only a few forced carries either to the fairway or from the fairway into the green. It's challenges come from well placed bunkers, elevation changes from tee to green and, large convoluted greens. The greens are simply a joy to putt. They are huge and usually quite fast. The greens are receptive to good shots and will reward a great shot by holding the ball tight in the pin area. Rolling the rock on these greens will put a smile on your face. Whether it's a 30-footer or a 3-footer...you always feel like you have a chance to hole it because the greens roll so well.
Bottom line...I look forward to Anderson Creek because it's a beautiful, playable course with alot of character. The greens are fantastic and the amenities are first class. Practice green, driving range, locker room/shower, proshop, grill w/full bar, decent carts, smooth paths, beautiful setting, very friendly staff. I've played worse courses (with more notable pedigrees) for three times the money in the Pinehurst area an hour away from here. Anderson Creek is an excellent value for the golfing dollar.
Great Layout - Tough Course - Shotmakers Will Love
Very nice layout that requires different shots. Several blind shots - helps to know the course. Course was in good condition but does have some areas that need work. Tough but very enjoyable to play.
A shotmaker's course
This course makes you consider club selection and types of shots all the around the track. Bunkers, slick greens and narrowing fairways offer quite a challenge.
Worth the drive
First time on course. Excellent winter conditions. Undulating, moderately fast, but fair greens. Highly recommend.
Great Layout
Course was in great condition, even for early Nov. Greens were in great shape.
The Promise of a Great Course Ruined by Slow Play
What a wonderful venue ruined by an indifference to slow play. Course is somewhat isolated, so a decision to drive to AC was based on the promise of a playing a good track. Staff were extremely nice, and course was in good shape. Nice designs, though I don't think I saw a flat putt for the 9 holes my wife and I played. Local knowledge is a key to scoring well. What drives my evaluation was the VERY slow play; close to 3 hours to play 9 holes and no one seemed to be out doing anything about it. We waited on the 10th tee to see if things had improved and after 10 minutes we packed it in never to return. What a shame. Went back to tell staff about it, but no one was around. Oh well. Another reason why interest in golf is waning.
Great value
The course was in very good shape and the greens were excellent. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. For the cost of the round, it is hard to beat this course.
