Excellent experience if you hit where you aim
Thoroughly enjoyed the course and quickly realized you have to pick a target and hit it. Greens in very good condition; take time to read the grain. Will play again soon.
Drive you nuts
Fantastic for the money.
Friendly staff throughout the whole course.
Wild lay out. Lucky and unlucky bounces a plenty.
Just go enjoy and smile, if you don’t you will end up slevvering like a mad man.
Challenging and fun.
The staff and the course layout and the scenery are all phenomenal. However like many golf courses pace of play has become abysmal. Some courses are on eight or ten minute tee time intervals but Tot Hill has a12 minute interval. This was a good move for them because of the difficult layout and this is a destination course unfortunately the extra tee time intervals still does not help. Many of the greens are in very poor condition. So pace-of-play and the greens in poor condition are the primary reasons for my rating as an average course. And there is no excuse for some of the root heaves and asphalt ramps on the cart paths. Maintain the greens properly, fix the cart paths and enforce a 4 Hour 15 minute maximum time and this is a 5-star course.
Margaret’s Review
Tough course. Beautiful views. Lots of elevation changes. Loved it. Will play it again.
The views are amazing! Super hard course for an average golfer. Half the greens had dead spots all over and several tee boxes were just dirt. Deff not worth 60 $
Green complexes on some of the more difficult holes are way too penal for the average player. I will not be back to get beat up on a tough Billy goat golf course. This course designer should have realized that to attract repeat business you need to make it playable for the average golfer. Otherwise very much above average for scenic views.
Need Superintendent attention
Some of the greens was in sub pair condition for the price value. Over several the years I've enjoyed the opportunity to play the Signature Stand Design. I believe it's time for a face lift.
refreshing and interesting course design
If you focus on the cart paths (gravel in some areas) and the current state of the greens on the front 9 (alligator texture) you will miss the beauty and challenges of the course. Back nine greens were great and I hope that when Spring rolls around the front 9 greens will be similar. Good winter golf outing. I look forward to returning to this fun course later in the year.
Great course.
Play if you like a very scenic, very hilly course with an amazing design. If you like wide fairways and no penalties then you know what to expect so don't give a bad review because you lost 8 balls and scored poorly. This is an amazing golf course.
Greens need work
Front 9 greens need attention. Back 9 greens were great. Awesome layout.
Must Visit Golf Destination
Loved the course layout, and every aspect of this facility. Highly recommend.
Showing effects
I live 45 minutes from this course and have played it 8 to 10 times over the years. I am a 12 handicapper who has played more than 30 years.
The course is showing the effects of neglect. Several greens on the front have bald spots, many cart paths are in bad shape and you can look almost anywhere and see signs of low capital investment.
The great views and great course design don't change but you just have to weigh the value against other good courses at this point. It may be a good opportunity for someone with deep pockets to step in and take over.
Fun Course Layout
Most of the greens were pretty rough…Short course, but accuracy is key! I definitely want to play again when the course is in better shape.
Unique Layout
Very beautiful course with a very unique layout, conditions were very good for the fall. Some greens have false fronts or multi levels. Hitting to the wrong spot of the green can result in a difficult recovery.
Want to play in the summer to see it in full green.
Hard times for a Mike Strantz design
I have played this course several times over a 7 year period. Unfortunately you never know what shape it will be in !?!?
May 2020 it was in great shape, in Nov 2021 the front 9 greens were unplayable and several tee boxes are nothing but sand. I wish I could blame the late season but it is clear the damage has been around for a while.
Amazing design if someone could figure out how to maintain it consistently.
