Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course

If you are in Chicago you should play there. The views of the lake, downtown, and Lakeshore Drive make this a unique golfing experience. Course is fine but the experience is first rate.

Not sure where fairways end and where rough begins. Poorly maintained fairways with weeds, untrimmed grass, etc. Tee boxes are pretty unimpressive too. Very poorly maintained

Playing Marovitz is a Chicago treat! Winds coming off the lake, blue skies, great temps. The staff is friendly and helpful. What I would change is the restroom situation for women [it is very old and could use some updating] and the need for an easier way to get a parking pass. Couldn't they install those parking pass number boxes where you enter the number and are charged through your phone? Hope they tend to this...

Great course. Horrible staff. They let people take all day in front of you, then yell at you because you are "playing slow" when you have been waiting to tee off at every single hole for the people in front of you to get off the green.

This course is in pretty good shape considering it’s a public Chicago parks course that is completely full, almost daily. Lately some of the fairway has recently become a little burnt up from lack of rain - it’s in pretty good shape though, for what it is. The greens are slow and have little break. Bunker sand is actually decent, although certainly not on the level of what you would find at pricier courses.

Pace of play isn’t quick. Go somewhere else if you want to blow through 9 quickly - on average it takes me around 2 - 2.30 to get thru. That said, I enjoy the course and love being on the lake after work. There are far worse places to spend extra time.

Staff at the course are great. I would recommend this track to friends, as long as their expectations are in check.

I had not played Sydney in years. I could definitely tell the superintendent has been doing well at get the course back to new conditions.

Pace of play was an issue years prior also, but round was around 2 hours with groups in front and back in foursomes. Before you were looking around 3-4 hours for 9.

The staff was rude minus the kid cleaning the carts.

The pace was 3.5 hours/9 holes.

The course attendant wouldn’t stop following us around with his cart because he “liked us” we didn’t come to make new friends dude.

Being a city course you have to deal with non golfers poor etiquette around the course.

Drove off the course after hole 4 because it was already 90 minutes into the round.

Food is garbage.

Would not recommend this course for anyone who takes less than 2 hours to play 9. The manager and head pro are completely ineffective and don’t seem to care about anything besides talking to their friends who are around. I paid 30 dollars and still feel ripped off.

Worst employees and rate of play I’ve ever experienced. Reminder it was so bad I drove off the course.
