Tee shot on #8 par 3 Photo submitted by tmlo on 05/05/2013
The Starter Blew it
The starter at this course needs to get some common sense. Arrived for my tee time a half hour early. ten minutes prior to going out at 1251, the starter tells me you will have to wait until I get another person to go out with you. I said, the other two are here and I am here, what's the issue? I need to send you out as a foursome. To heel you do, I said, I am here. The starter said then you need a manager. I finally found a manger and he said what's the issue, the fourth is not here yet. The manager instructed the starter to let me go out with the other twosome.
Lots of great improvements
I must say that I have been playing this course for years. It is in the best shape that I have seen in a while and i really enjoyed it. The tee boxes had grass and were flat. The fairways were good and the greens rolled really nicely. After the round, we stopped in the restaurant and the chef and staff were great. The food was really good and the price was reasonable. Just had a great day. I will definitley be back.
Conditions okay. Pace slow.
I've always loved playing. Colony West champ course. It is a difficult test of golf. The greens could definitely use some work, but most importantly to me is that it needs a ranger helping people along. Some of those people need to be moved along to the parking lot. If a ranger could ride around and inspect the culprits associated with slow play, then let those people know that they are holding up the entire golf course, that would be of great help to those of us who are ready to play when it's our turn and don't keep riding around in circles for no apparent reason. I believe that everyone in a group should both watch and help to locate others golf balls. It's just common courtesy and my opinion.
Great layout
Layout of this course can cause you to use every club in your bag, green in great condition especially after all the rain, very surprised. Keeps up the good work staff, I really enjoyed myself, I was visiting from Texas.
Not bad
Colony is a great layout. Conditions, however, need improvement. the greens have been getting better lately. (Just in time for every Canadian to chop em up). Fairways are still very patchy. And there's a big difference in distances between tee boxes. 5900 yds from whites, 6700 yds from the blues. One BIG problem....No Driving Range! There's a nice bar and restaurant, but service from 2 of the bartenders stinks. Usually in the form of ignoring u while they make other drinks. I ate there once. The waitress said they have the best burgers! Well, not really. My burger was grey and pretty tasteless. Fries were good though. (Good job, "chef"). Unless u find a hot deal on golfnow, a bit pricey for what it is. But this time of year, u have to expect that, unfortunately. Again, thx Canucks. All in all, not bad. But could be so much better..
