Cypress at Woodmont Country Club
About
The Cypress Course at Woodmont Country Club in Tamarac is named after the mature trees that line the fairways and frame the views from the elevated tees. The course measures 7,043 yards and features undulating greens that are a challenge too with carefully shaped contours that are subtle but tricky. It is a golf course that requires not only distance, but also accuracy and a good course management.

Strange maintenance
Course has not been watered enough but then while carts were parked on cart path beside par 3 #12 green and while we were putting , two sprinklers start up and soak our cart and bags and clubs and items in cart as well. $80 is way too much for conditions even on a Sunday afternoon.
Great Course
Played 6-7 courses on my recent south Florida trip. This is one of the top courses for me. Great course , great staff, food was excellent.
not good
1st impression: the carts are very dirty and beat up. No range, but there are stalls to hit into nets....needs updating.
I played the PINES 9 first and almost walked off...horrible conditions from tee to green. Played Cypress 9 for final 9 and it was pretty good...much better conditions and greens were fairly nice and good speed. Pace of play was atrocious as they allowed a 5-some to play in front of us.
Not Bad
Course conditions not bad. Had a good time and the pace of play was fine. Typical Florida Course. Would play again.
Enjoyable
Woodmont Cypress was as enjoyable a round of golf as I've had in South Florida in quite a while. The course was in decent shape (with a few rough spots on some of the greens) but overall, it wasn't bad. The staff was very friendly and the pace of play, a little over 4 hours, was good for this time of year. Kudos to this course for providing an above-average afternoon of golf.
love this course
we play a foursome here once in a while, and we always had a good experience. The staff are friendly plenty of food and drinks. The fairway is not bad. The greens are good. The rough is a little bit rough on some level, but I do recommend we go back again
Potential 5 Star
Course layout and variety of holes is excellent. Staff were great. This course is obviously currently a work in progress and was obviously at one time an excellent place and perhaps it will return to that distinction. There is even a large sign about renovation so it isn’t a secret. I hope to return in a couple of years and find the renovations done. It is worth a round now just to see the great design especially if you can get a deal price.
a golfing good time
the staff set the tone for the day---friendly greeting at the bag drop--also at check in--we plyed with two good guy (Erick and mark). upon completion we were met again by friendly staff---just an all around good day---by the way the greens were in great shape except for the 9th
MAGA NOT WELCOME
Today I expected to play a round of golf on a beautiful day. Well that is not what happened. At the time of my TeeOff a threesome rolls up and immediately tells the starter they will not play a round with me because I was wearing my MAGA hat. I said ok I’ll play with the next threesome, they too told the starter they would not play with me. I told the starter I would play alone and he told me he couldn’t and I should go to pro shop for a refund. I asked if this was their policy of discriminating against golfers that supported the President. They apologized for the inconvenience. That being said avoid this course at all costs as it obviously anti anybody that believes in Making America Great Again.
Awesome Course - Odd layout
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone traveling in the Fort Lauderdale area. The only negative feedback I have is just the proximity of the Pines course to clubhouse. At one point you have to drive the golf cart through a 4way stop- sign intersection.
great course especially the front 9
I played this course with my buddies a few times I enjoy it. The front line has been redone and it's incredible. The back line still needs some work but still a very nice course. Nice surrounding lots of huge lakes, beautiful trees. We enjoyed every time I played there.
Good experience.. worth another round
Pros
- good layout
- front 9 greens and bunkers have been renovated ( back 9 will soon be upgraded)
- good pace 4:11 minutes a 3some behind several foursomes
Cons
- fellow golfers: fill divots, fix pitch marks and rake bunkers
The course has been around for sometime. The 27 hole layout with its typical Florida meandering holes amongst housing developments. Somehow they sold the driving range to a developer to build more homes. Now, the driving range is made up of netted bays.
This notwithstanding, the course layout offers quite a challenge with its variety of holes and doglegs with critical ball placements. Also, I enjoyed the 5 par 3s ( 3 on the front and 2 on the back).
Carrying a 6 index , I added some “fun” by playing the five par 3 s from the tips ( gold) and all other holes from the blues. It added both a nice degree of variety and distance exceeding 200/210 yrs.
Compliments to the staff that worked on the front 9 renovation of greens and bunkers. The day before I played, it rained all day and night. When we played all drained very well - excellent sand and fast greens. I will say though that the back nine greens allowed you to stick the ball on the green and play with more spin given their moisture.
The staff was welcoming and made for an enjoyable day.
We are sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience at our club. The situation that occured is obviously not something we ever want or hope for and certainly do our best to make sure all of our golfers have the best experience possible. Before the starter mentioned that you could receive a refund for your round he didn try and continue to pair you with other groups. Unfortunately there weren't any available the exact time you were supposed to tee off and sending a single out by themselves on a busy friday would only have made the experience worse. We at Woodmont Country Club are welcoming to people of all parts of like and would never discriminate against a customer. We hope that you can give us another try in the future where we can provide you a better experience.
