Crescent Oaks Country Club
About
Located just north of Tampa in Tarpon Springs, Crescent Oaks Country Club sprawls across rolling hills dotted with sparkling lakes. The narrow course has a traditional layout that was carefully carved from dense woodlands, making it a challenging test. The lakes as well as a meandering creek come into play throughout the golf course. There are also a few strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. The par-5 10th is one of the most memorable holes with an elevated green and a ridge cutting across the middle. Par is considered a good score on this tricky hole. The golf course finishes with a par-4 dogleg left that features water along the entire left side of the fairway. The green is also protected by sand on the right and water on the opposite side.

Nice course
The course was fun to play. It was right in some places but very fair. The greens were in nice condition
Very nice course. Front 9 totally different from back. Small and flat greens on front, larger and undulating on back. Score early.
Speedy greens, grass on the fairways...whats not to like
As usual this is a fun course to play. The holes vary in look and difficulty for both the long hitter and the short ones. The greens are good with enough speed so you have to take care and be extra careful above the hole. The only criticism is the hole placements are sometimes unfair. Even a profession would struggle to make a putt when the hole is placed at the very edge of an undulation with no possibility of a miss stopping within four to six feet of the hole.
Great Choice!
Some guys I played with at Wentworth recommended this course to me! It was a nice choice with wide fairways, fast, playable greens, and well maintained bunkers (although I was only in 1). Played with a couple of guys from Jersey and loved every minute of it!
Overbooked
We had a 1.38 t time and waited an hour to get on the course, tried to get 18 Holes in before It got dark, but was not going to happen and only got 9 holes in, staff was great , and gave us a refund, all and all still a good time at crescent oaks.
Nice Course
We enjoyed the course and pace of play was fast on front 9 but slowed down on back 9. Greens were fast and course was in good shape. Lots of water hazard and bunkers. Would play again.
TINY greens
Have not seen a collection of greens this small in many years. They putted very fast and true. Course has a nice mixture of easy birdie holes and tougher challenges. Matched up with 3 nice people. Had a very enjoyable 4 hour round even though I played like crap...lol
Love this course !! Pace of play is normally smooth, however this time, there were a few slower groups ahead of us. Played in 4 hrs, instead of 3hr 40m, not anything really to complain about
No Ranger Means Stand Around All Day
Course had many typical groups of average to below average players with no idea about the game, decorum. or how to drive a cart. Carts inside ropes and markings, parking on edge of greens, front, back, wherever. NO attempt by the management to control the situation and speed up play even after being informed several times. Mediocre players playing from the back tees taking five to six shots to get to par 4s. The pace of play was agonizing! Fairways were decent and greens were speedy but wanted to leave after 5 or 6 holes.
Beautiful Course
My wife and I enjoyed playing this course. It is a very beautiful course with lots of challenge and the green were lightning fast. We would play again.
Good Track with Fast Greens
Played on a Sunday morning. Tee times were 10-15 minutes behind due to senior couples groups with earlier tee times and not well planned out tee sheet to accommodate. Pace of first 3 holes was slow behind slowest Seniors 4-some. Almost 45 minutes, culminating with 3 groups backed up on 3rd tee which is a Par-3 watching the old folks hack away. Picked up from there with overall round in at 4.5 hours. Greens in great condition and very fast. Overall course conditions fairly good with fairways running hard and fast. Very good bar and restaurant in clubhouse after round for a beer, nachos and some NFL football.
Poor Pace of Play and Tee Time Management
This course sends people off on both the first and tenth tee.
So if you are one the groups that has to tee off on the tenth tee, by the time you get to the first tee, you now have to deal with the late morning tee time groups.
This is what happened this past weekend. We started our round on the tenth hole and when we got to the first tee, we were now the third group in line to tee off. A few minutes later, the group behind us got caught in the line on the first tee as well. For the entire "back nine" there were consistently two or three groups on the tee box waiting to tee off. The entire round took almost 5 hours because of this.
Just a really poor experience that should never happen if there was better management of tee times. The experience was bad enough to overshadow anything else the course could have offered, hence the one star rating.
A good challenge
Not an easy track. Lots of water and some rather difficult carries for an amature. One par three from the Blues was a 185 yard shot needing a 160 yard carry over the water into a NW wind of 15 to 20 MPH. Next hole is a 400 yard dogleg par 4 into the NW wind to a raised green uphill. Course was in good condition, greens were quicker than most in Florida and the greens are very small. Pins were set in very difficult positions often tucked behind the bunkers and or perched on top of the ridges. Had my first 4 putt of the year! It was a fun, but challenging course.
Crescent Oaks
greens are fast and very good
course is in good shape and staff very friendly
Fun. Well worth visiting!
Wicked fast greens! The layout is nice. All the staff were helpful and friendly, not stuffy in the least. JP the starter gave me quite helpful tips since it was my first time playing the course. NOTE: the break is not as much as you may think! Well worth the money!
