Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest courses in the Tampa Bay area. In fact, it's the only 18-hole golf course in Florida that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the centerpiece of the Temple Terrace community and it's much loved by locals. At 6,443 yards from the back tees, the golf course is short by modern standards but what it lacks in length it makes up for in other challenges. The layout has a traditional design with small greens and tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy. Several strategically positioned bunkers also come into play along the greens. There are some tight spots and a fair amount of tricky holes, but overall Temple Terrace is player friendly enough for all skill levels.

GREAT GREENS
Have played here a number of times over past 5 years and always have enjoyed the course and the staff. Wish it was closer to home as would seriously consider a Winter membership. Greens were re-done in summer of 2015(?) and currently best that I've seen. Keep up the good work!
Course has immaculate greens, and very nice layout. Only complaint, fairways at times could use a bit more fertilizing, and the leaves could be blown off more, at times it was hard to find the ball. I would play it again though. I rate it about a 31/2, could be a 4 with a little work.
Good value
Our 4some of strangers played in 3:45, without rushing. Could have actually played faster, but we always had sight of the group in front. Nice layout, fairways in good shape, greens in great shape & quicker than they look.
Nice course, not very interesting, but in good shape
not a very long course so we played from the tips. not much water or woods to worry about, mostly wide open. was good for what it is. the greens and fairways were in great shape. Would play here again
Great condition
Enjoyable experience. Greens in great shape. Putts rolled true and quick. Generous fairways with bunker placement making accuracy a must. Will definitely return for a rematch with the challenge. I absolutely recommend as a must play in Tampa.
Nice course, sand traps need more sand, no water in ball washers. Overall a good experience.
First timer
Course seemed to be in good condition, greens were nice and smooth. Not too many hazards, but if your off the fairway you'll have to punch it out from under some trees. Most useful club was a 3 iron. Staff was very friendly and made for a good round of golf.
Community Course
The course is intrenched in the Temple Terrace neighborhoods. The cars drive right along the course and some holes can be very narrow. Keep the drives straight and long and there shouldn't be any problems.
Good course
Love it, no practice range, but good course, great greens.
Temple Terrace
Great layout, Rolling hills, Awesome greens. Hard to read grain of greens but not a flaw to be found
Nice course, not so nice members!
Had it not been for the lack of etiquette of some members it would have been an enjoyable round of golf on very nice greens.
Nice sunny Sunday afternoon and some members (3 times) just cut me off on the course. They have their own carts and some of them decided to go play a few holes. They just started were they wanted (in my case, 6th hole, 10th hole and 15th hole) and took over the course. I had to wait on them. No marshall on course to prevent or at least complain about this rude behavior.
Wont play there again
How the mighty Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club has now become just another golf course struggling to survive. I arrived 20 minutes early for my 1:07 tee time. Upon checking in our group was told that there was a shortage of carts and just to wait by the putting green and they will get us a cart as soon as they come available. When I see there is no organization going on and people where trying to claim the carts as they were becoming available, I went back inside to try and get any clarity to when we would be teeing off. One of the unqualified gentlemen from behind the counter rudely said they were behind schedule and for us to just go hang outside and they would give us a cart when they became available. So, as the sun was setting on a beautiful golf day, I was standing in the shade waiting for other groups to finish so I could get my turn at having a enjoyable golf outing. Well 45 MINUTES later we were finally graced with carts to start our round. In a time when golf courses are struggling to get people out on the course, this doesn't help. I'm finding it harder and harder to get my buddies to play because it should never take over 5 hours once you get to the course to finish your round. In the future I will pay a little more money to a course that has plenty of carts. Also a side note. I'm all in favor of having rules and enforcing them when they are broken, but please don't be all stern with me about tucking my shirt in when I see a female (that really shouldn't be wearing yoga pants and tank top) not following the same rules teeing off in front of me. Guess she slipped through the keen eyes of the guys in the pro shop.
Excellent Use of Natural Features
You'd think that this urban course would be fairly flat and artificially contoured, but it uses the natural topography to great advantage. Clever dog legs make for challenging tee shots. Course is well-bunkered although the bunkers were pretty well packed down.
Greens were excellent and moderately fast. Only complaint -- the restrooms were locked! Vandalism? Security? Too bad two players we saw had to use the bushes at this private club, in this upper middle class neighborhood. Overall, an "A" rating. It'll keep you on your toes.
Great golf day at Temple Terrace CC
What a nice layout... running through a wonderful
quiet neighborhood and the fastest greens we have witnessed in Florida. Really nice!
Urban Golf with No Awe Factor
This is a nice course which interweaves a neighborhood so there are many roads and dwelings close to the fairways. There is one water hole and each fairway is lined with trees where branches stick out causing a lot of punch shots. I had a golf now hot deal so it was quite worth it. Course was well groomed and greens were great. If you don't want to be wowed with cool holes and just want front to back golf - this is the place. Do not overpay as this course is average and not high end.
Change of pace from most Tampa Bay area courses
I really enjoyed playing here as it is the only course I've played in the Tampa Bay area over the past 6 months that wasn't a course located in marshy-swampy areas as most are.
That being said instead of water hazards, the challenges were trees and well placed sand traps.
I want to go and play there again because my round was affected I believe due to a sore back that flared up right before I played.
Driving straight is critical as nearly every hole has trees that have low branches on each side of fairway. Greens aren't large and most have traps on each side in front.
You get good bounce off these fairways, something you won't get at many other courses in the area as they are much wetter. The greens are in good shape. They get more difficult in later holes as the slopes drop off and putts can roll 6-7 feet past the cups if slightly tapped too hard.
Some of the holes had narrow greens and the sand traps were on each side, had a couple of "outs" from those traps that went from one side and rolled into the other side of the trap. Greens are fast too.
Nice old track!!
Went out early to work on my game, no one in sight and flew around the course. Greens were nice so was the rest of the course. I like the old layout, played a lot of HS matches there as a junior always brings back good memories. If you have not played there before it is a must play, especially for the great deals GN has.
The only negative for this place is the members and the employees hate that we are out there playing on their course and you can feel the bad vibe from them...if they don't like it then the club should raise the dues and the members need to pony up!! That is life in the golf world these days, either put up or shut up!
