Northstar California Golf Course

Although I couldn't hit em straight, the course was really nice. A couple of greens that are still recovering from winter freeze, other than that, course layout, the beauty of the valley and hills, it was a great course.

Only problem was there were 4 young kids that snuck in on the 16th hole in front of us delaying our great pace holding up 3 groups on those last 3 holes. We had a 4 some that paid over $500.00 that came from far away to deal with this. We will speak with their upper management on this situation so future “paying” golfers don’t have to go through this delays!

Great course. We always here when in tahoe. We plan to play next month when we return.

This course has such a fun layout. It’s hard to understand why it is in such poor condition. But it appears to be to save money in course maintenance. Improve the course and you would get more play. In fact, Northstar could become a golfing destination for people. As it is now, it is a major disappointment.

Conditions at this course always seem to vary from year to year. Last two years were fairly good. This year a number of greens are in poor conditions such that automatic 2 putt signs are posted. But the worst thing is on the front nine with the invasion of grasshoppers or locusts. There are many areas where there are swarms of them. No mention of this on the website or when checking in. And no price discount.

Northstar ski resort and lodge has a lot of work to do if they want this course to match the ski resort up the hill. The clubhouse is old. A-frame style ( but fine, I get it.) the course itself was in terrible condition. Especially the greens. Dirt circles 4” wide. Dead spots, sand, 2 were actually marked “under repair” and give auto 2 putts.

The “snack bar” closes at 4. A problem for anyone starting a late round. We were not informed until the cart girl told us at the 9th tee box. She had nothing but chips and a few candy bars on her cart.

Only silver lining was the 2 young men that cleaned our clubs and took our carts at the end. We asked them what was up w the rest of the staff and greens keepers? They gave the most honest answer. “ yea man, I’m sorry, I wish I could do something about it too…”

Oh well. At least we got the golf now hot deal.

Food choices leave a lot to be desired and are expensive- Gatorade $7. ($5 every where else)

Great time, pace of play was nice, had the course to ourselves. Beautiful on the back 9, very challenging.

Nice course set in the meadows (front nine) and trees (back nine). Great views and challenging.

Only 1 other group out playing. Conditions were awesome. Challenging but fun course.

From the warm welcome we received in pro shop, to the layout of the course we were very pleased and look forward to the next round at this wonderful golf course.

When I played there were three groups always waiting on each tee box. Where were the marshals?

There are better courses in the area for the price they charge.
