Tahoe Donner Golf Club

About
Located high in the Sierra among towering pines and meandering creeks, Tahoe Donner Golf Club is a scenic mountain course that is a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program. The front nine of the golf course moves clockwise while the back nine moves in reverse, providing an interesting change of pace. The unique layout features narrow fairways that are lined with trees and large, undulating greens that putt true and fast. There are bunkers strategically placed throughout and a water hazard comes into play on the last hole. Dramatic elevation changes afford views of the mountainous countryside and the abundant wildlife that call Tahoe Donner Golf Club home.

Beautiful course, excellent condition
Very well maintained, must have a great
Greens Keeper. Lush fairways, perfect greens, nasty rough. Be sure to consider the mountain gravity when putting!
Very fun golf course!
I’d spend my $200 down the street
Tahoe Donner is nice. The conditions were fantastic, greens were great, and the feel of the clubhouse and surrounding facilities were top notch. I just struggle to justify the $200+ round when Coyote Moon is right down the street.
With only a couple of holes as exceptions, the course just feels uninspired. Here’s a longish par 4 up hill, surrounded by “cabins” wedged next to each other. Here’s a longish, straight and flat par 3, surrounded by cabins wedged next to each other. Here’s a downhill par 4, surrounded by cabins wedged next to each other. I don’t know… just not a lot of character, though I’ll reiterate that it’s in great shape.
Then there were the marshalls. There wasn’t anyone behind us for at least 2 holes. We were playing on pace (slightly under). In no way was it necessary for the Marshall to rudely ask us to pick up the pace. 2 holes later, we’re half a shot behind the group in front of us (still nobody in sight behind us) and got the form talking to again. Just absolutely ruined the vibe and left an awful taste in our mouth for no reason whatsoever.
For the same rate (or less), Coyote Moon (a few hundred yards down the road) is 100% a better course, a better experience and where I’d spend the money if you’re exploring courses on the north side of Tahoe.
Overpriced and rude marshal
Interesting but unconventional layouts, which not many people would like. I would come back only if $80 or less, Overpriced. Play Coyote Moon instead. A rude and misguiding marshal is one thing they need to address.
Best course I’ve ever played at!
I’m from Vegas. This was my first time flying for a golf trip instead of driving. Perfect weather up here. So much greenery. Great views. Course was in great shape and everyone was really nice!
to much fun
Great deal through Tee off. A bit on the windy side but that didn't affect play. For this time of year the course is in great condition. The greens were in excellent condition, maybe a tad slow, some surprising breaks when you didn't expect it. The fairways were way better than I would have expected. Played with two young guys, one was a year into the game and already hooked. You definitely need a straight game to play this course well.
Great Course
This is a real gem of a golf course. Even early in the season, the course was in excellent condition. Challenging but fair. Lovely views. Great layout. Reasonable green's fees. Will play it again.
Starter pushing us with no one behind
Starter was pushing us with no one behind us, played in 4 hours and 15 min. The lady in the pro shop was rude, when answering questions. Also the course wasn’t in shape, greens were very slow. Overall i would probably never play this course again!
Terrific Layout
This is a marvelous course; great layout; challenging but fair; lovely setting. Great 18th hole. A true gem. I will be back!
Loved it
Course is in great shape for this time of year..just getting better
Course was good condition..green are getting better from winter time
Staff were Rude
The staff was very rude while checking in. While on the course the starter told us to speed up play, with no one on the hole behind us. It felt like they were trying to rush us through the round.
Opening weekend
Beautiful course. Can be difficult if you get into the trees. Greens were all over the place with speed and bounce but it is opening weekend so what do you expect. Love this course. The amenities are really nice and the beverage cart visited every few holes.
TDGC
Just opened for the ‘25 season. Rough was thick, but the fairways were thin (tight lies). Greens were very slow. These will all improve over the next weeks as Tahoe wakes up from winter. Played the afternoon, we didn’t see anyone else in the course, so pace of play was at our leisure. Cart path only was the only slowdown. We will be back in a couple of weeks.
Great Golf Course
I fell in love with this course after playing it for the second time in two days. It’s a long course even from the white tees at 6500 plus yards. About 5 par fours that are over 400 yards. A lot of elevation changes and the greens are not easy to read.
