West Palm Beach Golf Course has hosted a variety of tournaments since opening in 1947, some that have included famous players such as Arnold Palmer. This historic course stands out from all of the area's public courses. Unlike Florida's many flat courses, West Palm Beach has an undulating terrain that provides interesting elevation changes. The course features elevated tees and greens and rarely is there a flat lie. The rolling hills are covered with native vegetation, palm trees, and mature pines and oaks. There is also no water to be found on the golf course, another rare occurrence in this area. In 2009, the course underwent a major renovation that made it environmentally friendly. There is also a full grass driving range and large practice area that overlook West Palm Beach Golf Course.

The greens were heavily sanded. The fairways were in poor shape, the fairway bunkers had very loose sand and the tees had very little grass.
Slow play and management doesn't care
No Rangers on course to move play along. The course manager does not care one bit. Slow and painful. We left after 9 holes.

Friendly staff and great value
I played this course with a business meeting set for that evening so the pace of play was important. The extremely friendly starter kept things organized and we moved fairly quickly. The course could be in better shape but it had been very dry lately so some rain will help. Lots of waste bunkers so bring your sand game. I took it in stride coming from Minnesota I just pretended I was on the beach. Great value for a round to shake the winter cobwebs off my swing.

Needs water
Too much sand and not enough grass. Looks like it needs a couple of good rain days or a better irrigation system. Fairways very scruffy. Layout is good and provides some nice challenges. Would come back when I see a hot deal.

Great time!
I went as a single golfer on a Tuesday afternoon. The fairways were a little dry and patchy. It was a hot day which was nice but the grass reflected the weather conditions. The greens were smooth and fast. The pace was great, we only had to wait on a few holes. Lots of sand but the sand was very soft and forgiving. Overall a great experience! I would play this course again.

Course in Need of TLC
Course could be so much better. Fairways dry and many bare spots. Greens are average speed but very bouncy not many true rolls. With some water and TLC could be a nice track but until then it is still not worth the low greens fee.

Poor condition,needs a lot of TLC
Could be a fine course if it was taken care of . Sand was poor, greens were slow . Pace of play was terrible . You need to be a long hitter to score

You get what you pay for
We paid $52 for 2 of us to golf at 2:30pm and that was with golf carts. The staff was very friendly and the course was wide open but I've never seen so much sand. The 'rough' was just soft sand and the greens had a sand base rather than grass. It was a nice day to play and the price was a bargain and maybe after some rain the grass would take on the fairway.

Giant sand trap!
When we first arrived we were unsure of the course condition. As we progressed we realized it was the style of the course. The fairways are lined with natural sand on both side and made play very interesting. The golf course would look better if they were to edge both sides of the fairways and clean up some of the vegetation. We will definitely go back.

Good layout
Course has good layout, but like most municipal courses, the upkeep is lacking. Greens were good, but a little bumpy. Fairways were tight with little base and grass. The rough is mainly heavy beach sand and although playable, try playing shots in one foot of beach sand. Obviously a function of low budget for upkeep and aesthetics.

good golf course
the golf course was ok but the temperature was very bat 50 miles wind and we finish at the 16 because it was starting to rain and wit that rain it was impossible to play. Ther was some hole that the sand from the trap was going on the green.

Great experience
This is the second time I've played here and it was worth it. The greens are in nice shape . Good speed for an enjoyable putting experience. We were all very pleased with the course layout . We are going to play again next week. Yes I recommend this course for the greens , the layout, design and value which you just can't beat.

Good value
If you like/need/want fancy, this is not the place for you. The tees and fairways are not great, only passable, but the greens are in decent shape, and the course layout is challenging from the back tees. And the price is fair for what you get.
