We keep trying, but they can't seem to get this place in good shape. The greens are a bit better, fairways still very bad & many times if you are 1 or 2 feet off fairway forget it.
Defiantly done with little guy for few weeks, but will keep trying just because the guys are nice.
They are trying
This little course has had it troubles get its greens playable all summer & that has continued into the fall season.
Avoid the restaurant completely

Southport Spring golf outing
Decent little course for the money. I just wish they would remove the trees on the fairway sides of the cart paths on holes 13/14. These holes are too tight for their length and is cause for a lot of shots to go into the homes off the drive. Removing these trees would widen the fairways about 10-15 yards each.
Keep driver in bag!!
Really enjoyable game at Southport Springs. A friendly welcome when we arrived at this 55+ Community course. Don’t let this put you off as though the course may not be long it is still a very good test. Tees and fairways are excellent as were the greens if a little slow. Not a course to risk driver on all holes if you are a bit wayward as several holes are either tree lined or lakeside.
Surprised
Have played this course a few times and was always $28 but this time was only $20. Guys I played with was the first time and kept telling me it was amazing for the price
Put Senior Tees Back!
Love the course. It's usually in good shape but the "rough" is too often unkempt and weedy. The Staff is great and friendly. Need to watch slow play and overcrowding though. Don' bunch the Tee Times so close and don't join twosomes up with others unless they agree. Too much trouble right in Seniors" wheelhouse from the white tees. A couple 4s and 5s just too long from whites. Need to bring back the Senior Tees. A couple 4s on the back or overly tight. Need to seriously trim back/remove some oak trees. Don't let group outings snag all the tee times. A few tweaks and you have a 4+ star course!
Fun
This course is kept very well . The the course is not very difficult. The combination of those two items makes the fee very reasonable. Me and my golf buddies have fun playing this course.
Has everything I look for
Upon arrival I was greeted in the pro shop with a very friendly employee who gave me great directions in making my way around the course . I like the length of this course as I don’t hit the long ball off the tees . Even with some flooding on some holes and greens being aerated I had a wonderful experience . I’ll be back for sure especially to enjoy the classy clubhouse restaurant .

Considering all the rain we have been having this course was in great condition.

Beautiful little course
I can't find a single complaint for this course. I have an injury to my right arm and I just wanted a nice short course.. Southport was short, tight, and beautiful. I'll be back!
Our little secret
Don't tell anyone else about Southport. It's our little secret. Best value golf in Florida. Keep up the good work. Keep the prices affordable and we'll be back. However, if your going to fertilize on the day we play, let us know in advance. The greens smelled like a baby's butt needing a diaper change. Whew! See you soon. God Bless.
Fun but challenging
Have played this course several times. It is by far one of the most challenging 18 holes of golf for a par 69 that I have played. We do enjoy coming here because it’s close to home and within our budget.
