Southport Springs Golf & Country Club

Have played here before. Conditions usually much better. Front nine in very poor condition. Back nine better but still not up to usual standards. We’ll wait awhile before coming back. Give crew time to do their work.

The only thing I can say good about golfing here is the Tee boxes were in good shape. I won't be returning this year. Greens were horrendous.

This course has the worse greens I ever have played in. They said they air rated them. You need grass to air rate greens. Nothing but dirt every green. Ii asked the staff at the end how could you charge the price your asking for greens that are so bad. He said that’s my opinion. I will never be back. I’m sorry.

The course, Staff, carts, proshop, everything wat great. Unfortunately we came a week or so after they airated the greens so the greens were browned and mostly dirt, but once theyre back to normal they are amazing greens.

The course is aerating the greens, BUT, there are numerous areas on every green where there is no grass. There is a significant need to plant grass seed. What better time would there have been than when they drilled the aeration holes ?

Why does no course in this area not plant grass seed I bare spots throughout the course ? Bermuda grass grows sideways. But, not for significant distances. Shame.

We play this course often and usually enjoy it. Short, but can be tricky. This round however had a new twist. THE GREENS WERE HORRIBLE/TERRIBLE. Couldn't even move the ball to a different place in order to get a clean roll. I'm guessing the greens are in the middle of giant repair. Could have shot my age if it wasn't for the greens being so unfair.

This course is always enjoyable. Unfortunately this time I noticed that the greens were not in that good condition. Once they remedy that it’ll make it even a better golf experience.

'Have always liked Southport for the friendliness of the staff, course layout, and the fact that the greens and fairways are always in great shape. The fairways were terrific in the past and allowed one to use irons easily because they were somewhat lush. The greens have rolled beautifully and were very well maintained. I missed 14+ months due to a knee replacement and Achilles injury. So now in April, 2024---I returned to play and was very disappointed. I brought a friend and was embarrassed at my choice of courses. The greens were horrible with numerous brown-to-the-dirt patches. It looks like there was either a fungus or mold issue. And the greens were flippin' dead slow for most. The fairways look like they're starved for water--they're far from lush. Tee boxes are marginal. Then to top it off, the bar & restaurant were closed on a Saturday afternoon. No cold beverages to drink after a round in the heat. Nothing. What the heck has happened Southport??? I have loved this course for years but now I won't return unless things change by later this year or 2025. Very disappointing.

These folks are super nice & the little course is interesting, that said it is a tea total mess right now. Many of the greens are simply unplayable & there's hardpan areas in many fairways. Give them a month or two to right ship & it'll likely be back in shape. Lastly there is no beer sold or allowed on the course some issues with permits. This is also being addressed, but no timeline for resolution.

The greens seem to be going bad { maybe they were over seeded and that is dying off} I'm not sure but lots of bare spots other wise the course is in fair shape !

The greens and tee boxes were fair. What had changed since February.
