Silverado Golf & Country Club
About
Silverado Golf & Country Club is situated just north of Tampa in scenic Zephyrhills. It is a par-71 layout but for low handicappers, it can be extended to a par 72 by turning the lengthy 10th hole into a challenging par 4. The area's natural beauty is defined by the mature oaks that date back over 100 years and the abundant wildlife, including red tail hawks, geese, and foxes. The landscape provides an excellent round of golf, which is further enhanced by the year-round temperate climate. Bunkers treacherously lurk throughout and the occasional water hazard also comes into play. The golf course offers some challenging holes but overall, it is approachable for a range of skill levels. Silverado finishes with a par 4 that requires a difficult carry in order to make it past the pond in the middle of the fairway. Those who strategize carefully will be rewarded with a birdie.

Good value for money
Being a little ways outside of Tampa (~45 minutes or so), this course is a little cheaper than comparable courses you would play closer to Tampa. The course was generally in very good condition for what you were paying for.
Downsides included essentially no cart paths, not enough signage (we got lost a few times trying to figure out which hole we were supposed to go to), and lack of a real driving range or short game area (they have a "practice area", but many of your clubs will be too long to hit there).
Upsides include fairways, greens, and tee boxes is good shape. Course is pretty easy while not feeling boring. Pace of play was quite reasonable (4.25 hours) for the way they had the tee times staggered (every 7 minutes).
We would be back.
NEVER ON SUNDAY!
I have probably played here 50 times. It's a nice, simple golf course where there are few places to lose a golf ball. However on Sunday they have a scramble tournament in which they allowed multiple groups of FIVESOMES. Thisi s a short course which should never take more than 4 hours to play. This time it took 5 hours. We even called for a ranger regarding the fivesomes and they did NOTHING. They knew about and allowed the fivesomed. I will never be back on a Sunday. You shouldn't either. What legitimate golf course allows fivesomes, especially on the weekend? NONE.
:)
All good, Saturday was hard hat country club but otherwise ok. First tee should not be so close to driving range. 2 stars there but ok overall.
A long round.
Weather good, Layout good, Price OK, just short of 6 hours for the round.... 2 1/2 hour front 9 waiting on every Tee, over 3 hours back 9. A 30 min wait on the 10th hole 5 groups waiting to tee off and 2 groups on the fairway and green. Insane no clue why.
Draught has all courses suffering here in the Tampa area
Course was in good condition, especially given the lack of rain.
Once the rainy season begins in June, I hope they will plant/spread some Bermuda grass in the fairways, as there are many bare spots and worse, spots where weeds have killed the Bermuda grass.
Best course in the area for the money
With many courses in the region now asking ridiculous prices, Silverado has kept their prices down while not skimping on maintenance. The greens had recently been worked on & fertilized but that didn't prevent them from being fast & in good shape. Fairways & most tee boxes were in equally excellent shape, just 1 or 2 tees were chewed up a little but I did play in the afternoon so that could have just been a matter of timing as the course was busy.
The only negative I do have is that my neck & back take a beating whenever I play here do to some parts of some cart paths being dirt/gravel that is very bumpy. Usually takes me a couple of days of agony to get over it but I'd still say it's worth it just to not pay $60 for a round of golf at some other course that's not maintained to the standards a course asking that kind of money should be at.
First 9 a little rough. Fairways a little light with the grass. Greens were okay. Cart paths where almost all sand and dirt with it being quite rough in a lot of spots. Other than that a good value for the money.
