Absolute Gem of a Course!
This was such a treat to play here. I can't believe that I have never played here in the past. The course is very majestic and challenging. Even more challenging if you play from the tips. All staff were friendly except for one individual, the Marshal. The Marshal came around several times with a grumpy attitude telling us to hurry up. However, we were waiting on groups ahead of us on every tee box. It wasn't like we were new to the game....all of us were single digit handicapers. We tired to explain, but he was rude and didn't want to hear us. He needs a lesson in customs, courtesies, and respect on how to treat your customers. Other than that, the course was fantastic!
Sunday at Tilden....not great
We played behind a twosome that had a radio blaring, were drinking heavlily (they threw their cups on the ground and if we lit a match it would have exploded), and they kept hitting more than one ball, even though we (a fousome) were waiting on every hole for over 10 minutes. We called the pro-shop and they DID NOTHING. We asked the pro-shop to call the PD to let them know these guys would be driving home in cars, and they DID NOT.

Awsum
Every bit of my day here was incredible had a great time the conditions were great greens were sweet fairways were beautiful I have decided to make it a weekly endeavor using golfnow thank you very much and kudos to greens keepers at Tilden keep up the good work
Sunday at Tilden
100% worth it. Tilden is a challenging course due to the trees, it's always got the best of me. The greens are tricky, average speed, breaks are present and not too trampled (even with a 1 PM tee time). The weather changed a bit throughout the round - par for a Bay Area round, but it was very nice.
One thing that was a bit of a bummer was the pace of play. We had a 5 some in front of us, with 2 walkers. One was an absolute beginner. Didn't let it bother us too much, but a marshall should have let us play through.
I'd do it again for the $.
good course
the course was in good shape. greens are on the slow side but pretty true. overall condition of the course was good. staff was very friendly. this course is a very difficult wak.
Greens are like shag carpet
The greens here are slower than fairways at nicer courses. For the price we paid I understand but this course could be great with some small improvements and if the greens were faster.
Anniversary date
We have plans for our our wedding anniversary and my wife and i decided to include golf in our agenda. I' told her about Tilden Park which never played before. She loved area the moment she steps on the first tee. We both had fun and will definitely play the course again with the whole family. Thank you Tilden for a nice anniversary golf date with my wife.
Greens unreadable
I loved the beautiful look of the course. Local knowledge a big plus. First 2 holes not an easy start. Lots of up and down kind of expected when a course is in a canyon. The greens were very slow and unreadable. I would putt the ball really hard and still be short. Ball roll was very bumpy. I might play again but go for early start time.
Great course, but slow play
My first time playing this course and I loved it. The weather was perfect, beautiful course , a lot of uphill and down hills shots. Fairways can seem narrow if you don't hit it straight. Greens were in great shape. Will play it again for sure
Slow play
I have always liked this course it is playable for all levels from the proper tees. I know playing all a holiday it would be crowded. 6 hours was just to long, maybe some Marshals would help speed things up
6 hour round!! On a Friday!! 'Nuff said.
Title pretty much says it all. The course is nice, but the pace took all enjoyment out of the round.
What a Rip Off
This is the first time I've played since November 2013. I didn't go back because of the way I had been treated by the starter who was beyond rude and cranky. So my friend and I decided to give the place another chance. Big mistake. We weren't told they were 45 minutes behind until AFTER we paid. Had we known they had booked a number of tournaments we would have left. After that long delay we end up playing a 5 1/2 hour round. Not a marshall to be found during that entire round but I will say the lady who worked the cart was very nice and very accommodating. For once Lou the starter was actually apologetic for the delay. I think it's the only time he didn't yell at me for something. I'm done with this place because $65 on the weekend isn't worth it without all the delays. The placements of the pins were ridiculous and nowhere near a flat spot for all 18 holes. I'm fine with a challenge but at least give us a fighting chance on the greens. Bottom line is I will never again play here.
Pace of play
This was the first time I ever quit on a round of golf because of the slow play, at over 4 hrs we were only on #13 so this was shaping up to be a 6+ hr round. We did not see a single marshal on the course and even with a foursome we were always at the next tee before the two some in from teed off. Very frustrating and unlikely to return to this course

I thought it was a great course. It is as beautiful as an course I've ever played. Felt like I was playing in the Tahoe Forest! Staff was great course was great.
Early morning golf
Tilden Golf Course is a beautiful place to play. Nestled into the hills of Berkeley, early morning brings turkeys deer and other wildlife. The early fog burns off by 6:30 and leaves the course wet with dew. The elevation changes add difficulty to the game, but are a part of the beauty of the course.
Berkely Hills gem
Tilden Park is a well kept public course in the hills above Berkeley.
While many Northern California course are drying out during the drought, Tilden Park looks and plays just fine with just a scant few areas showing brown grass (in the rough only).
Up & down hills with some narrow fairways to hit, thus gouts can challenge any golfer.
Long Day
This is a beautiful and fun course. But...we had a 9:57 tee time on a crystal clear Sunday, no fog, no dew, no frost, and absolutely no reason for there to be a 30+ min. delay. And yet we didn't tee off until 10:30, and there began our 5 1/2 hr journey of errant golf balls, stale beer, nasty food, and the occasional golf shot. We won't be playing Tilden for a long while. Go Bears!
great views
Overall course was in a good shape. It needs some improvemwnt on bunkers and pace of play. There are some areas that have water leaking problems
Muni Treasure
A great older course with some very challenging holes. The first three holes test you right out of the chute. A beautiful location, a little difficult to find, but worth the effort. Always busy so there is a lot of play. I would say that the average golfer will be doing something if they shoot their handicap at this course. I think it is a great course and will look forward to playing it again.
challenging
The course was in very nice shape but yet challenging. I will definitely go back again and play!!
