The Golf Club at Rancho California

The course was green from recent rains. Greens were soft. No bounce & roll on approach shots. Bunkers in decent shape. Good value. Not crowded mid day.

This course is looking great! I heard they got a new superintendent and it shows.

1. The greens roll nice.

2. The t boxes are flat and even.

3. Fairways looking greener.

4. Grass is cut, trimmed...

My only recommendation would be the bunkers. They need more sand.

I have played this course several times and enjoyed it each time. Something weird was going on this time as the pace of play was excruciating. We started at noon and decided after 12 holes to call it a day. We were already 3.5 hours into the round and had to wait at every tee box. Course was in great shape, staff was friendly, and food was good. Marshalls were out and about but not sure why there was a backup at every hole.

There are areas that have dried up but they are clearly trying to stay on top of course conditions. greens were in good shape. Fairways were well maintained. Bunkers had enough sand and many workers were busy throughout the property. I can't say the same for some other nearby courses.

The tee boxes needed some work. some greens were infected. Not bad of a golf course. My favorite in the valley outside Journey, but needs some work..

I live on this course so i am biased. And I still hated every second of it. Course is absolutely in horrible shape and only the front nine was open. Guy at the front desk casually told me that I had to play the front nine only and the greens were punched and sanded. Yet still paid full price. Worst course I have played at in YEARS.

Reviewed this course before but cannot say enough about what a great layout this is. Easy to see why it was a tournament course for so long. Love this course.

On the day i played the course was punching the greens and sanded only got to play 3 holes that had not been punched and sanded it was a bit challenging when trying to make your putts oh well maybe next time,the rest of the course was fine i will return for another round but i will make sure its all good next time..

We played this course on a Sunday morning in early September and the price with cart ($60 each) was reasonable for Southern California but there is a lot of repaired areas that need to heal. California is in a drought and we were hoping that the course would be in decent shape as when we played it before 5 years ago.There were areas that made playing difficult such as the tee boxes were weedy (I have the same weed problem in Colorado and I know it's a challenge) and we felt like we were tilted teeing off., There are a lot of Ground Under Repair areas on holes that only had dirt on it (again a problem with limited water usage I realize) , a lot of storm damage that wasn't cleaned up off the sides of the holes (broken branches, cut bushes and a lot of cuttings) made looking for off shots long. The staff was very helpful and the driving range is very nice. The course was great years ago, it'll have to heal.

Awesome parkland layout that is challenging yet rewarding if you play it smart. Love this track. Easy to see why it was used as a competition course for so long.

I don't know who's writing the kind reviews in the last month or two but they must be employees or owners. This was potentially the worst course I've played. Only Links at Summerly could compare but even that is improving fast. The positive: Staff was friendly...the end. Let me cover the general areas of a golf course. Fairways: covered with crawling weeds (native ground cover). Other areas were bare. Some lower areas (watershed areas) had extremely deep grass of 8 inches or more. Bunkers: I was in two bunkers during my round. The first was simply dirt. The second was also dirt but had an endless supply of rocks about half the size of the golf ball. Rough: The rough was like the fairways only MUCH longer. The rough made US Open rough seem short. Same weeds and long grass but much longer. Finally, the tee boxes: One was completely skinned bare. A few were tolerable (not good). Others liked like a busy driving range at closing time.

Bottom line, the course conditions make the course about a 145 slope and not in a good way. It's a joke. Word is that it was for sale and it looks like they quit spending money prior to sale. I only saw one greens worker and he was driving a tractor with no attachments. Golf shop is virtually empty. Everything stopped in 1985 here. Like I said in the headline...don't go.

Fairways were way too overgrown, rough was probably 8 inches thick. Greens were too spongy. Very disappointed with how the course is looking. No marshal in sight, had 4 single players in front of us round took 4.5 hours on a Monday. I won’t be back. Save your money might as well play Cal Oaks at this point.

course was fun, challenging but let's you play. only thing was course could have more yardage markers on the par 4 and 5's. some parts weren't kept up as well as others

I gave 4 out of 5 only because of the current conditions. The fairways were long and some bunkers were muddy. It’s the summer time so I know this is common. That being said everything else was great. The layout is challenging with both short and long par 4s.. The greens were perfectly soft and sticky (best part of the course)… $50 at 7am is great value for summer and I would definitely say it’s a $100 during season. Highly recommend
