Unsafe
They do not follow any social distancing rules and endanger the safety of players. They make strangers share carts with no mask even staff. Very irresponsible.
Covid Carts
I don’t think you should be sending two people out in a cart on the grounds that “one person has to walk”. No one on the course was walking. People just shared carts without masks. If there is any intention of helping with the spread of the virus, cut the tee times in half and send everyone out in one per cart. If not, cut the pretense and just say it is business as usual.
Over charged
I booked for includes a cart price.
But, they charged to pay $15 per person.
They said golf now was wrong.
A Golf Course with Potential
The course was in great shape with well-kept greens and fresh sand in the bunkers. The staff was friendly and helpful. My round took 5 hours and 20 minutes on a Wednesday! The problem with San Dimas Canyon GC is the slow play. I am not sure if the staff can solve this problem. I think this has to do with the players that frequent the golf course. It could be anything from golfers playing from the wrong tees or attempting to read putts like a tour pro. Nothing is perfect and every course has its problems but slow play will keep me away.
5 hour round
I don’t tee off at 6:30am to play a 5 hour round! The two foursomes in front of us were a group of buddies who took forever. They were at least two holes behind and nothing was done about it. I’m not going back there for awhile
Will never come back
Overbooked and Staff can’t handled the flights. I booked it as hot deal on GN. I was told to join a twosome and then another guy showed up and joined us, too. The pace is already slow so I asked the starter if I can get a different cart instead of having the same cart with the guy since he play on white tee box and I play on red. The starter OK us but the pro shop guy rushed to me and ask me to pay extra $12 since I didn’t want to share cart with the guy. I explained him and then he said this time let me go, sounds merciful. A guy in our flight told me that he lied because a lot of single players went out alone with one cart. My round was ruined by such a bully.
Green is good and some of them challenging. But there are more interesting courses around with same price but better pace and more friendly.
Pro shop is horrible and confused
Marshall seems to be trying but way too many over bookings and dreadful pace of play. Management is lacking tons and needs to work harder to making this a decent course at least. Used to be a seni secret gem now just a course with bad management.
Not for the meek
Toughest course I’ve encountered in years The greens are impossible to read Some fairways are treacherous But I’ll be back
Good course but overbooked
Staff overbooked this course as we had an 11:56 tee time and tee’d off at 12:30. Had to wait average of 10+ minutes for each hole to clear up. Barely finished with daylight as we were basically hitting in the dark on the 18th hole. Would have been more enjoyable if it wasn’t so overbooked.
Way overbooked
Course is great! Sucks that they over book tee times! Was backed up for hours. 18 took us almost 6 hours!
Much much better than expected
Our usual Saturday early AM group couldn’t get a time locally in OC, so we found this course on GN — course photos looked great and we were all surprised to see the course as advertised, even in late December. Several interesting hole layouts and picturesque Par 3 on the back 9. Definitely worth the drive.
A classic in great shape
I used to play San Dimas Canyon all the time in the 90’s, but hadn’t played it in 20 year after moving out of state. It was exactly the same challenging but fair, target-golf course I remembered, but in much better condition. Greens were well kept and fast. Guys in the shop were very friendly. Only knock... they sell Foot-Joy merch but for some strange reason don’t put the SDC course logo on it? On all the other brands of shirts/jackets, etc. Would have bought an FJ polo to rep a favorite SoCal course back in North Carolina, but not to be...
Sloooooow
Course is challenging and fun but the pace of play was horrendous. It took us 6 hours to play 18. We were waiting on every tee box with multiple groups. Seems like they over booked it.
I feel your pain. It's not worth playing anymore. The management doesn't care about the pace of play, they don't care how many bad reviews they get and they continue to be rude when you bring it up. I guess it's all about the money.
