Picture perfect day at Spanos Photo submitted by Tem23powtfgj on 07/06/2013
Fairways and greens awesome
Spanos Park Golf course is in wonderful shape. They really know how to maintain a great golf course. I played with a couple friends. It was their first time. They loved it. The only complaint I have is trying to find out yardages. I’m to cheap to buy a sky caddie or any other yardage gadget. Besides that the course is wonderful!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Challenging little track...
Although the Monday morning crowd moves at the pace you’d expect, and the winds were blistering today.. the greens are firm and fast... just like my high school girlfriend. Course is playing amazingly for $48 bucks! The Ambassador could have ushered the 3 groups of seasoned golfers along a bit in front of us, but it wasn’t unbearable. All in all, great track!
Winter golf at the Reserve
Great afternoon round. Teed off at about 3:pm and finished at about 5:45. Conditions were.great, the track was firm, rough challenging but not punishing, the greens although recently sanded were in great shape and deceptively fast.
Falling Asleep Extremely Slow Play
Have played this course many times and NEVER was this slow. Two foursomes of UOP college people were playing in front of us. First 4 holes we good, but then we came to a full STOP. You would think these guy's were qualifying for the U.S. Open. Anywhere from 5 t0 11 minutes we had to wait on each hole. To me, this was unacceptable. Our round was 5hrs. 35 minutes. Really, it ruined the round.
Always in great shape.
This course is in great shape anytime of year. It is challenging yet not to difficult for your weekend golfer. Wonderful course.
Great course
This is really a great course for the money. It was very foggy at 9:40, we didn't expect to tee off until it lifted. They sent us out anyway (we couldn't see more than 75 yards, so it was more of a challenge as we hadn't played there before and didn't know the course. Fog didn't lift until almost 1pm, but once it did, we really had a fantastic round. I would definitely play again.
Challenge in Stockton
The Spanos course is a lot of fun. It feels like a true links style course and has a few blind shots that really keep you on your toes. The pace of play was horrible for the front nine, but from the 10th hole on it was pretty good. I was a little surprised that most golfers weren’t fixing ball marks on the greens but the greens were fair for the most part. I love the water holes, and the wide open fairways that allow you to get pars if you stay out of trouble. It was a great day at Spanos and met two transplants from the east coast that enjoyed the course as well. Check out the nice track in Stockton.
Slow Sunday afternoon round.
The good: Course in excellent condition. Only course around that has green fluffly grass fairways.
The bad: Slow pace of play on back nine made it a 6 hour round and didn't finish with several holes left.
Won't play again until 110 degree summer heat scares the walkers back to the morning.
Be prepared to hit stingers in the afternoon because the wind can be brutal.
The Reserve at Spanos
Great course. Best in the valley. Green's are always in great shape. Fairways are beautiful. Love this course.
Golf Cart with Heaters would have been great!
Wish I could blame the course for my poor results/score but not! The course was in very good condition for winter play. Weather was very cold and foggy causing loss of distance and this “old” body of mine
less rotation. Overall a fun day!
slow play
5 hrs to play round is to slow, 2 5somens ahead of us.
Great day of golf at The Reserve
First time playing this course and we had a great time. Beautiful wide fairways, awesome quick greens but with plenty of bunkers, tall rough sections, and water hazards to keep you on your toes.
Staff was very friendly, we had three in our group with two carts so they set up a single guy to join our group. Doug was a great guy who fit in well wit us so all had a great time. course marshal was firm but very polite in suggestion we let the faster group behind play through. Strong recommendation for this course.
Pave of the play was very slow
This was my first time at this course. I was very excited as I drove almost an hour to be there. Two things I noticed that were very frustrated. One was pace of the game was very slow and there were not enough gap between teams of 4. We had to wait 10 to 10 minutes after every short which really kill the momentum and we lost the charm of playing at this course. I even called the office to send Marshall so that he could ask the people to keep reasonable pace of play but unfortunately no one showed up. We finished 18 holes in more than 5 hours. Usually with a regular pace it is around 3.5 to 4 hrs. I think the office loaded too many player with very little gap. On par 3 holes some time 3 groups of people were waiting to tee off like 12 people. I am sorry to say that me and my friend were very diappointed.
