Avalon Country Club

I have played this course before, but not with the new extremely disappointed with the greens. They were fuzzy and VERY SLOW. I was very upset that had to pay regular price on Golf Now. Price should have been discounted due to the greens, which were approaching unplayable. I will not be back there any time soon, if ever. I would rather play on greens that have been punched than play on these greens.

The biggest problem Avalon has had for the last couple of years was the greens. They were a mess. GOOD NEWS! The problem will soon be solved…We all hope. The old greens have been completely replaced and should be rounding into great shape soon. They are still very slow as the course allows them to mature before cutting to close. The course has always been a favorite of mine. Nice facilities, friendly staff, good layout and well maintained carts with GPS and automatic breaking on steep terrain. If all goes well the new greens will be the finishing touch on a fun round of golf.

If you actually care about score don’t play here. 80 percent of the greens are unplayable. I won’t be back. Place isn’t worth 10 bucks

The course is challenging but well kept and is very enjoyable to play.

Avalon is one of the best courses in Knoxville. Staff is friendly, carts feature GPS for you to see yardages. Greens are in great condition!

Love this course. Great staff all round the facility. Course is always in great shape. Very nice to have such a great course only a few minutes away.

When I checked in, the golf shop told me to golf with two other golfers. They were good players so we played each hole efficiently. The tees and the fairways were in great shape. Maintenance was performed on the greens on 3,14 and 15 so they had temporary greens set up.

It was a great course that was awesome to play. The course had great fairways and was challenging and fun to play. Great course overall!

We played this course last fall, it was trash. Greens were beaten up and had more sand in them then the beach. They had few real temporary greens. At the end of the round we went into the shop to complain that no one told us the greens were so bad. Got charged full price and an attitude from the counter staff when we said something last year. It took us talking to multiple people to get comp round back, we would rather have received our money back but we will take an invite to play again....which was today. Over a year and the greens are terrible, absolutely wrecked, an embarrassment to anyone who’s ever tried to grow grass. Whoever is in charge of the course should change careers. They were decimated beyond belief, so so so so bad. Do not play this course, if you pay more then $10 to play you got ripped off. The members (who I would be embarrassed to even be on the course if I was a member) don’t follow the rules, cart path only for us, not for them, rank the bunker for us not for them. Just a terrible terrible place, avoid at all costs. .
