From the practice green you can see parts of over half the holes on the front nine. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 07/15/2017
They don't care about their players or 20+ year relationships!
Our golf league had a 20+ year relationship with Bristow on Tuesday nights at 5. They had a guaranteed 44 golfers playing, about half paying for range tokens, about half drinking beer during and about 10+ eating food and drinking beer after the round.
Bristow unceremoniously terminated our league ending a long standing relationship with the club for "financial reasons." We weren't given an opportunity to negotiate with the course to pay more than the $25 we were paying. Instead they cancelled us and now have a relationship with Spark where they're accepting $31 for a half empty league. I've asked our membership and they all have said that they would definitely have paid more to keep our relationship with Bristow.
In short, the new managers that are in place do not have any business being in their positions. One is in his position because of his relationship with ownership and the other is a golf pro who has no previous management experience.
We find it hard to believe that they would have turned their back on our 20+ year relationship, waved bye to guaranteed 44 players on a Tuesday night at 5, killed relationships with those 44 golfers and whomever we tell about the way we were treated. I won't ever play there and I would urge you to find courses that care about their players and charge prices that are commensurate with their geography and their conditions. It's not worth playing their for what they're charging for either reason.
We've found a home at a new local golf course that is overjoyed at having us. They're charging us the same fee AND including range balls and are actually modifying their offerings to entice our players to spend time at the course after our rounds.
We were surprised we were so rudely kicked to the curb by Bristow and so was our new course. They are over the moon that Bristow is so poorly run by people who don't understand human relationships and actual dollars and sense!

Greens need some work
Fun to play tee boxes and fairways in really good conditions greens not that good , overall I'll back soon.
We love hearing about our golfers' experiences. Please tell us more about what you enjoyed during your round. Thanks for choosing Bristow Manor Golf Club!
Good, just not there yet
Course layout on the front nine is a confusing mess and no one can change that now without spending big money. Staff is not great at making you feel welcome, the walk to your car after dropping off your cart is too long. Mid summer the course will be in better shape, still in winter-like shape; saving Grace is the back nine is more spread out, open and more fun.

Deceivingly challenging
Although it was wintery conditions the course was in great shape, especially the greens which rolled true and fast. The course seems easy to play but once you step foot on it you realize that para are hard to come across. I was paired up with a local who was very knowledgeable of the course and his tips were of great help. Overall a great experience. I bet this course is amazing in the warmer months.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Bristow Manor Golf Club.
Not so hidden gem
Been playing this course for years. Never had a bad experience there. The course is well laid out and well maintained.

Slow Play Today
I routinely play at this course with no issues of pace of play. But on this day there were 2 groups playing a scramble. The play was extremely slow, so much so we had to play the front nine twice...and we still finished before that group. Course was in great shape considering it rained the day before and it was a bit cold. The staff is always friendly and accommodating.

A quick defense of Brisow's front nine . . .
I just read the long review from the scratch golfer. It is great that he is concerned about laying up on the two Par 5s on the front. In case you haven't played Bristow before, here is more information you should know: it is 250 yards from the regular (middle) tee to the water on the 4th hole (230 yards to the end of the fairway -- Bristow, it might be a good idea to extend that fairway to the water). On the next Par 5 (the 6th), it is 260 to the water (again with rough from the end of the fairway to the water -- maybe extend that fairway too). Considering these distances, for 98% of the golfers, I don't see the Par 5s as being an issue re: layups. They are essentially normal Par 5, three-shot holes.
That’s a great recommendation… extending the fairway would allow more of a full club from the tee for some and an opportunity to go for the free in two.
I still frown on the fact that I’m penalized for the distance that I hit my driver (310-320 yards).
Just to note, I wished full memberships for this course were more aligned to other prices and just my opinion, this course should be around $3995 as assessed with other very similar courses in the area.

Good course; no restrooms
How some you don't have any restrooms on the course? You used to have them. I can't think of any other course around Northern Virginia or Maryland that doesn't provide its customers with, at a minimum, a port-o-let. C'mon man. Your course is very good and I see you are working on the bunkers as well. And the Zoysia is great.

Moderate Golf Course - Green fees a little too pricey for this type of course
I have been playing this course periodically, since spring of 2000. The course itself is good, greens are usually the high points of why the course fun to play. Overall, course if overrated for green fees it charges. Front nine is monotonous as the layout after three is back and forth over the water. The par 5's on the front are despicable as par 5s. I personally can't hit driver off either of the par 5s (unless I play the front tees and can drive over the creek) on the front nine and it takes away from game and the opportunity of hitting the greens in two for eagle opportunities. Even though at times when wind isn't up, I can still get to the greens in two. That said though, who wants to step up to a par 5 and be tied to hitting a long iron or 5 wood off the tee?!?!
The back nine is a great layout and I enjoy playing the back nine a lot. Can't really say anything negative for the course, when it comes to the back nine.
This course overall does need attention to detail, around the entire course. Mort attention to detail would allow it to pop more and maybe the, it would be worth the green fees being charged.. Some upgrades have been done but this course needs an overall reapproach upgrade. Especially around the driving range and the cart barn, trailer in the area, some clutter and such. Weird how it always looks dull and the clutter/trash makes it look terrible and even nasty looking behind and around the cart barn, behind the range as well as whatever the trailer is for?!?!
Customer support has never been a strongpoint for this course. Over the years, I have almost always felt like, as a customer, I'm bothering folks when I show up and pay and or ready myself to play. They seem to do this thing where they don't give you keys to carts until about 2-3 minutes before your tee times. Treating customers like they are 12 years old doesn't work these days. With that said, with better customer support, folks that are passionate and kind to people (people person, if you may) ... that is what this course needs. Prioritize a few upgrades as attention to detail(s) each week and the course would start to shine. This course also in need of new range balls and good scheduling coordination for allowing golfers to use the grass tees on the range.
This past week when I played Bristow, my tee time was 11:40am however, I didn't tee it up on the first hole until 12:37pm. Again, this course needs a great leader and a few managers that again, are considered people persons and can keep things running, while also prioritizing some planning to enhance or upgrade a few things here and there.
Until the above mentioned has some keen focus and even though they charge prices similar to Stonewall Country Club, they for sure aren't an equal to Stonewall. This course is and will always fit in as a decent municipal course similar to that of Prince William Golf Course.

Overbooked
No weather problems and tee times were behind by almost an hour. Not able to finish 18. Poor management. Course itself is not bad, greens were nice. Probably won’t be going back
