Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Favorite public course
Olivas is by far my favorite public course to play in Ventura , conditions are amazing for public course , nice greens, fun layout with always perfect beach weather vibes
Burritos
Just a good course. The only lousy thing is the trailer toilets next to the trailer clubhouse. The homeless campout in the bushes off of 15 & 16, so beware of them.
Course conditions
The fairways are well maintained and good. The greens are good too.
A gem near the harbor
Drove down from Arroyo Grande CA to Ventura, about two hours, to meet friends driving up from Burbank, CA. It was a beautiful sunny day. The course looked impressive with green carpeted fairways and well trimmed pines which did not interfere with play unless, like me, you sliced into them. The staff were courteous and friendly. It became windy on the back nine and the pace of play slowed down. Another great feature was Adirondack chairs on the tee boxes. Had a great time playing golf with my friends at Olivas links golf course and recommend it to all..
Good Course
Nice links layout. Always in at least good condition. Good pace of play for a Friday afternoon, but this course is rarely super slow anyway.
Green punching from a couple weeks ago went well and greens were good
I heard new carts are coming….that’s good. Existing carts are “fair” but older. Mine got “tired” last 3-4 holes.
Olivas
Rode the Blues (6530/71.6/127) with Bnaso and a very nice H/W twilight in 4H, 10M. 60, overcast and windy. Felt more like 45-50 with the wind, it was chilly.
Tee boxes good coverage, winter thin and mostly level with some divots.
Fairways mostly winter thin with numerous GUR areas. Many holes have collection areas with lots of divots.
Rough mostly okay coverage, mowed low and what I would also describe as winter thin.
Traps were nicely groomed with fine grain sand.
Large greens were almost back to normal. Still somewhat bumpy and medium speed. I had a poor putting day, but it was me, not the greens.
Excellent layout, mostly flat, very walkable. Always fun to play. Bare bones amenities, clubhouse is a trailer, no Drink cart. Good driving and chipping practice area. Customer service usually limited but always very friendly here. Prices are reasonable. Recommended.
Olivas
Walked the Blues (6530/71.6/127) with t8fish twilight in slightly more than 4H. 60 and breezy. Completely overcast/foggy made it challenging to follow your shots.
First time I have played here since 2018 and all I can say is WOW, what happened to Olivas? This was definitely the poorest condition I have seen this course in since it opened after the renovation 15+ years ago.
Tee boxes mostly thin, good coverage and mostly level with some divots.
Fairways mostly thin with numerous GUR areas.
Rough mostly thin with okay coverage, mowed low.
Was not in any traps but they looked okay.
Large greens were punched 3 weeks ago and have not recovered well. Medium speed and bumpy.
Excellent layout, fun to play. Mostly flat, very walkable. Bare bones amenities, clubhouse is a trailer, no Drink cart. Good driving and chipping practice area. Customer service usually limited but always friendly here. Prices are reasonable. Recommended.
Punched Greens and sandy
When I booked on-line, it did not indicate that the greens was going to be punched and sandy. I was not alerted that the back nine was going to be closed.
