Ocean Resorts Golf Club

About
Located just six miles west of Ocean City, Md., Ocean Resorts Golf Club is a good option if you're looking for a round that is fun to play but still a good value. The course is known for being player friendly enough for any skill level but there are still several challenges in store with multiple sets of tees that range from 4,800 to 6,500 yards. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are also several strategically placed bunkers you'll have to contend with. The layout rewards proper club selection and good strategy but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers. A unique aspect of Ocean Resorts is that it's owned by the Wor-Wic Community College.

Poor shape
I have played this course a few times, the staff is amazing and very friendly and typically the course is in fair condition but this past weekend, it was in extremely poor shape. The tee boxes were beat up and the greens were uncut and some were completely lost with bare dirt spots making them unplayable. This is a course managed by college kids, which I love, but I would like to see them get it in better shape, it could be a very fun track with even slight improvements to conditions.
Good and bad
Nice front 9, good condition. Back 9 in need of much attention. Interesting holes but seems to have been neglected.
Good course and layout. But we weren’t told that carts had to be in by 7:30 or we would have started earlier. We were only able to finish 15 holes
Always fun
I got paired with 3 visitors - no one knew anyone else in n the group - and it was pretty fun, though our play was slow.
The course was in the best shape I’ve seen it. A couple of dry days preceding a round at ocean resorts ensures the course is as dry as possible.
Somewhat what you’d expect for the price
Only a few real complaints for the course, you get about as exciting of a course as you pay for. Though that being said there are some nice hazards and such. My main complaint is just a few tee boxes being run down to almost entirely sand.
You get what you pay for
If you set your expectations based in the reasonable price, you will not be disappointed. Decent conditions and a fun layout make for a pleasant round.
Early Birds
The course has been in great shape the last few times out. It was pretty busy in the morning The pace of play was great. 18 holes in under 4 hours.
Good condition, good pace of play
This was a good course to play, much better than I had anticipated. The pace of play was excellent. As a twosome, we played on a Tuesday morning in three hours and 20 minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Course conditions were very good. The front nine was in excellent shape. It’s a more open layout in the front, with longer holes and some water challenges. The greens were smooth and true, and the sand in the bunkers was fluffy and excellent.
The back is a completely different type of course. You spend at least half of the holes in a wooded environment, with very narrow fairways. The back starts out with two very short holes, but you need to hit your spots in order to score. While the fairways were in good shape on the back, the tee boxes and greens could use some improvement , especially the ones that are in the shaded forest area.
I would recommend this course for its value and good course conditions.
Good Value
Good value for a lower twilight rate. I’d have been disappointed if I had paid full price. Staff was extremely friendly. Course conditions were just ok. It’s a municipal course with municipal course challenges. Nice layout. Good low key place to play a relaxing round.
Needs work
The course needs serious work. It looks like it doesn’t drain well enough. I don’t believe the course gets enough sun for the grass to grow properly and with the moisture problems it has a lot of diviots. The layout is good but this course doesn’t get enough sun light
Pleasantly Surprised
While visiting the area we decided to play a round of golf. We came upon Ocean Resorts through Golf Now and decided the price was very reasonable compared to the more well known courses. Some reviews were good some a little iffy. We decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The fairways and greens were in great shape. Some tee boxes need a little work but you can see an effort is being made. Some shorter holes make you pull the lesser used irons out of your bag. Water and marshes do come into play so accuracy is key. Fun course. We would definitely play again.
Course Conditions
The course was in best shape that I have seen in years. All greens were in good shape and rolling very good.
Rain is a good thing keep it coming for the course,,
