way over priced
Greens were riddled with unrepaired divots. Tee boxes were uneven and sometimes all dirt and sand. The GPS on cart didn't work. The other cart kept shutting down randomly. They had to keep driving backwards to go forwards. This was in the middle of the fairways, not in restricted areas. This course should not be charging $100 to play. Very disapointed. I would not recommend this course however they do offer a very reasonably priced group lessons.
Great layout, always challenging
Always a solid round at Heritage. Course layout is great, fairway conditions are always good, and the greens roll true. My only two critiques of Heritage is the bunkers could be better - way too many rocks in the bunkers. I won’t play half of them because I’ve gouged up my 60* hitting out of one. The second is pace of play could be better. Usual round on a weekend takes 4:45-5 hrs. All in all, green fees are a good value for the overall course. A solid 4*s from me
TeeTom
Loved this course, play with two great gentleman, Was not to difficult, greens were very nice but extremely slow.
Plan on returning to play again soon.
Absurdly Challenging, not worth Price
As another review said, hard for hard sake with no redeeming qualities. Its like someone who had no idea what they were doing sat down and tried to make a ridiculously difficult course just for fun. Greens are outrageous and pin positions are even worse.
Great layout in excellent condition.
Great layout in excellent condition. Beautiful fairways, good greens but lots of unrepaired ballmarks, good tees butt need a little attention.
All over
Course is beautiful. Mostly in great shape. Greens are full of unrepaired ball marks. Snack shack was closed by the time we made the turn. By hole 11 we were 65 minutes behind pace and bailed on the round. Poor management of who was going out. Looked like they had a morning tournament that screwed things up. On a busy summer Saturday. So yeah, poor management. Otherwise course layout was fun. Staff I interacted with were good. Wanted to say it was a great experience but just can’t.
Not worth it
Course was alright and in ok shape but just like most public courses it was way over booked and the people have no golf etiquette. We were 2.5 hours behind pace by the time we finished 18. Would recommend spending $20-$30 more to play a more decent course
Great Course
Course is in excellent shape from tee through fairways to greens. But, it is a very challenging course with few flat lies due to undulations throughout every fairway and numerous sand traps strategically positioned. It is in a beautiful setting, well maintained.
Now I remember why I said I’d never play here again
Played a scramble here yesterday. The positive first. It’s a pretty course. It’s not too far a drive in metro ATL. The facilities are nice. That’s it.
It was cart path cause of recent rains. That’s not the course’s fault. But the design is. Cart path only made what is an unenjoyable course completely unbearable.
This is absolutely the worst designed course I’ve ever played. The designer went out of his way to make it hard. Think Pete Dye on a really really bad day. Bunkers in the dead center of the fairway. Then another bunker hidden behind that if you fly it. Then a third behind that. No joke. But not brilliant like Dye or Strantz. Simply hard for hard’s sake. No bailout areas. Anywhere. Goofy golf greens like a rolling ocean.
And That’s not the worst part. I don’t mind hard courses. But they must be fair and a bit fun. The worst part is the mounds.
This course is lined on both sides of it’s slivered fairways (and often in the middle) with *hundreds* of mounds. Think the chocolate drops on Augusta #8. But literally EVERYWHERE. I would have hate to seen the bulldozer bill for this course.
Sure there are hills in North Atlanta. Not like this. These are recurring artificial 10-20 foot mounds that make the fairways look like the Dahlonega Mine Train at Six Flags. The entire round you’re hoping not to get an unlucky kick from one of them.
And that’s not the worst part. These mounds also occur around many greens. Which means the cart path must run behind them, and you’re walking up and down these huge mounds after putting out on every hole just to get back to your cart. It’s brutal. It’s not fun. And with cart path only, it’s unbearable.
I’m sure at 25 it might not have seemed as big a deal. But most of the golf public is older. I can NOT recommend this course to anyone over 50ish. I’m sorry. It’s really just too hilly, difficult, and tricked up. I remember now why I played this course once and swore never again.
I will not give this kind of criticism without a way to resolve it. FLATTEN this place a bit. Take some mounds out. Soften the green slopes. Move the cart paths closer to the fairways and especially the greens. Golf should be at least a BIT fun. Not just a 5 hour duel with masochisn.
So much potential . . .
My main complaint (I have more than one) is that there's never enough grass in the fairways, and when the grass has grown in it's shaved so low you often feel like you're hitting off a cart path.
