McDowell Mountain Golf Club

Friendly staff, beautiful and challenging course, but a bit concerning that the 10th hole is right by the driving range. There are lots of errant golf balls coming at you while you’re playing. Restrooms are also very basic compared to other courses, but overall we would definitely come back.

There was zero warning about overseeing, until we were done and we asked. Course was like playing on hay! No cart girl, again something we didn’t find out about until after and the answer “oh yeah not today”. They have fees for over $100 the day before over seeding starts,…hopefully people do not pay the price.

We booked here because I’d played the course a few years back and remember it being a pretty nice. Unfortunately the conditions were awful for the price they were charging. Grass was dead and greens were not in good shape. Would understand paying $40 for the current conditions, but $85 was outrageous for the condition the course was in. No mention they are getting ready for over-seeding, which is misleading and prices should be dropped significantly because it’s not worth it.

Conditions: 4/5. A couple patchy spots and roughed up tee boxes. Greens & fairways were great. Bunkers were inconsistent. I hit out of 3; one was soft, the other 2 were like concrete.

Service: 3/5. Outside Service was great. Nice & helpful.

Beverage Service: Yarri was great! Everybody else was bleh.

Other Staff: Proshop attendant was unmentionable. The starters here like to do 12 point turns in the rocks behind you while your hitting off the first tee! Happened to me 2 weeks in a row here. It was actually pretty funny. Ranger was nice.

All in all for August, the course is in great shape. Fairways were nice greens rolled pretty good no complaints.

The staff & pace of play was great. The course is in good condition considering this time of year. Greens aren’t up to par on most holes though.

Five hours is too long, no ranger out there helping with pace of play, course in rough condition, no beverage cart after 11am

Apparently this course didn’t get the memo… you can’t charge premium rates when the greens, fairways, areas around the greens, and tee boxes are crap. Don’t waste your money, go somewhere else

They just aerated the greens, which are still playable, and discounted to $39 for afternoon tee times. Yes it's hot here in Scottsdale AZ, but the course conditions are amazing for a Phoenix area course.

Included in price is cart, with ice/water bottles, and a detailed course map, very helpful, as well as two small bags of balls for warming up at the range. You can't beat it!

The course was average with a serious lack of fairway yard makers to the center of the green. It was a total guessing game on distance and club choice. Come on McDowell Mountain Ranch Golf step up your game. You are in the middle of golf Mecca!
