Old at Firewheel Golf Park
About
Firewheel is Texas’ most impressive example of municipal golf. Owned and operated by the city of Garland, and extremely popular because of the fair price and number of available golf holes, Firewheel now sports 63 holes since the new Bridges course opened in the past few years. All three tracks can be challenging because they each incorporate a variety of hazards into their designs, including limestone that is scattered throughout the property.
The Old Course, the traditional layout, was rated No. 1 by the Dallas Morning News. Water hazards come into play throughout the design, such as on hole #18, a 400-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot and an approach shot over the same creek, which winds through the hole. Hole 9 is the feature hole, a 552-yard par 5 that rolls downhill. The tee shot is into a narrow landing area carved out of trees, and on the approach you must be in perfect position because of the strategically placed pecan trees. Number 18 is challenging with both the tee shot and the approach over a creek that winds through the hole.

Golfer Reviews
decent course
Not a course I had high expectations of going in but was pleasantly surprised - greens did have dry patches but this was more around the edges
fairways were so so - but i only payed 20 dollars to play on a Saturday at 11 and was happy with the round - i did have to walk but managed ok..
I would come here again for the right price
Disappointing!
I don't like to take shots but this is not a course I would recommend. Tee boxes are terrible and fairways not much better. Greens are the only salvation here as they weren't too bad.
Course in pretty decent shape for winter especially the greens, a bit muddy though.
Fun relaxing easy time
My driver could do no wrong today Splitting fairways made this course super easy. Fun to play from the back tees You must play smart golf on a tad more than a few holes.18 is definitely a 3 hybrid off the tee which gives 110 to pin Driver will find the water
Semi fast/quick greens makes this course fun
Challenging but fun
Had a great time , fairways a little rough but it’s fall greens in good shape over all
Super excellent courses
place when you can play two rounds and you don't have to play the same course the staff here is very courteous and I know they don't have Marshalls but just call up and they'll get the people moving you just need to come out and see this place and you would it will enjoy it as much as I do
Classic Gem
The Old Course at Firewheel Golf Park is a timeless gem! Best Value in golf in N. Texas. Regardless of time of year the conditions are always comparably nice. I'm never let down when I play this course.
Very poor golf course
On most holes, I couldn't even identify if there was a fairway the conditions were so bad. Avoid
Lot's of potenrial
A good course. Excellent layout, but uneven tees, spotty grass could be improved. Greens were fairly good, undulating. Enjoyable round.
Beautiful Day at The Old Course- Firewheel Golf Course
Greens were running true and fast. Beautiful day on the Old Course at Firewheel in Garland, Tx
Great Greens
This course is a good one. We got it on a hot deal price for $12 and you can't beat the price. Greens are soft and roll true. We played 36 holes and got the next 18 for $14. Overall great public course in Dallas area for it's price.
Good Muni Course
This course was good not great. The greens were in good shape but there were parts of the course that were overgrown. I would play it again however. It offered a moderate challenge.
Great layout
Could use a little more grass on the fairways..cut pretty close...
