About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Friendly staff, nice course
I haven’t played this course in a couple of years lots of improvements. Had an awesome time even though it was 5000° lol

Lots of fun for all skill levels
Great course, offers many challenging holes with water hazards and crossings of Squaw Creek. Carts are in great shape. Lots of fun for all skill levels and ages.
Signs state that you cannot bring water.. beverage cart came around 3 times during our 18 holes.
Marshall will rush you and follow you if you are slightly behind pace, regardless if there is another group behind you or not. Slightly unprofessional.

Pretty slow but the course is in good shape
The lake’s course isn’t open so everyone has to play the links. Pace of play is pretty slow due to this. The course is in great shape as always! All the staff is great!!

AVERAGE EXPERIENCE
Good greens, fairways average, bunkers not good, pace of play horrible - could not finish. 5 to 10+ minute wait on every shot. Gave up after 15 holes. No potable water on course in 100 degree heat. Staff is always great.

Good place to play
Great layout. Friendly staff. Pace of play horrible - unable to finish round. Bunkers were unplayable. Need water on the course. Greens were very nice and the fairways were in pretty good shape.

Great layout
I love this course being out away from the city, it's so peacefull and quit. But... the greens ways frustrate me out here. They are so grainy, and lumpy. I can never make a confident putt because I don't know if will go right or left.

Good time
Beverage cart came by plenty which was awesome.
Recommend putting out some water coolers.
Great course wish I had played the Comanche Lakes course because I have played the Links in the past but forgot. So for all those wondering Apache Links is the original 18 hole course and Lakes is the newest.

Great round, fun course
I have been traveling through area lately and was able to get in early for an appointment in the area to give this course a go for the first time. I found the course to be a great layout that is different in that it plays links style. It's pretty wide open without blind shots, but I was also helped by being paired with some folks that knew the subtleties of the course. The course was in great shape on a windy, hot day. The bunkers weren't great (hard sand, needs raking), but luckily I didn't spend much time in them. Pace of play bogged down a bit at times, but it was Sunday morning and course was busy. This is a fun course and hope to play it again soon.

Hurray for Squaw Valley
I was glad for the brief rain. It was sorely needed for the entire area. I visit for 3 wks Spring or Summer and have enjoyed the courses greatly. The people I have been paired with have been pleasant and fun to be with whether they were local or like me a traveler. It all speaks well for the course and the personnel working there. Course is in fair condition
Fairways are still thin and spotty. Greens still have poe ana. Still no water provided on the course. Otherwise its still a great layout and fun to play.
