Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Fun and Challenging
It offers a good experience for every level of golfer. Course is in great shape!
Awesome customer service
Challenging courses. Customer service is awesome. Pro Shop, beverage cart, cart return, restaurant personnel - everybody is friendly and welcoming.
10 minute tee time intervals would help with pace of play. Course is so busy and popular that there is a lot of waiting between shots.
Average experience
Greens still rough, mostly due to winter freeze. Fairways still spotty. No on course water in 100 Degree heat?
We played on Sunday with an early tee time.. played in a little over 3 hours. Course was in great shape even though the greens had been recently punched. They putted smooth and fast. Loved the course. We also played the Lake course in the afternoon. Course was also in great shape and the greens were fast and smooth. Would definitely recommend these two courses to anyone.
A Bit Disappointed
Got in 5 holes here two weeks ago (Friday before Memorial Day) before the lightning and heavy rains sent us packing, and the greens showed signs of having previously being aeriated so I was expecting them to be much more playable for this round. Not the case at all on the Links course. As one in our foursome said, “This is like putting on corduroy!”. It was as if they had aeriated and sanded the greens again. It was anyone’s guess as to how the ball was going to roll. The fairways were thin as well. Squaw Valley is one of my favorite places to play and this was probably the worst conditions I’ve experienced here ever. It was disappointing too because this was the first introduction to SV for one in our foursome. It would be nice if they would let you know beforehand (maybe under the “News” section of their website) that they’ve recently aeriated.
the greens were aerated a few days ago and were rough!
Except for recently aerated greens the course was in good condition and is well maintained. In about two weeks the greens should be close to perfect. This is a very nice golf course, probably my favorite.

Good Course
The course is coming in good, with the greens growing good with the cool weather. Good course to play, pact of play was good!
Squaw Creek Saturday
We played the Apache Course. Greens were rough in places but overall very nice course. There are some tough water holes, and some open holes with nice scoring opportunities with forgiveness. Very nice challenge for the average golfer. Great little cafe at the turn with an awesome chicken salad sandy. Great friendly local staff.
Getting Better
Have this played this course a lot since April due to getting time off for work. Back in April it wasn’t in great shape, but now the course is turning for the better. The greens on the Links Course are in way better shape than April. The first couple of fairways on the front 9 are a little thin, but then the fairways get into great shape from holes 4-18. Glad to see the shape of the course is getting back to its old ways. The range turf is some of the best I’ve seen in a while.
Always Solid
Both courses are always in great shape anytime of the year. Great practice facilities including two putting greens, sand bunker, chipping area and big range.
Great Course in Need of TLC
Squaw Valley is one of my favorite tracks in Texas. The winter freeze did a number on several fairways and greens. Hopefully they get it back to it's normal level. Still an amazing layout and worth the drive
Apache Course
The course is well kept and has interesting features. Squaw Creek runs through it on several holes and presents an attractive site. The Tee boxes are set up so that no matter what your ability or age, there is a n appropriate place to tee from. I look forward to playing the Comanche course next. I'll definitely come back next year when I come back through here. I had not played in over 5 years and thought I would be doing good to break 100.
Apache links
Course was in excellent condition. Best course I have played in TX this spring. Fairways were in great condition, Lies were a little tight. Greens were a little bumpy - weeds. Fairly fast w/o weeds.
I will play this course gain
