Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Squaw Valley Photo submitted by SirPuraVida on 12/13/2016
Great course. Played the week after the extreme cold weather in February but it was ready for play. Always in great shape. Food in the restaurant was very good.
Fair test
Great course. Extremely fair but yet challenging around the greens. Very good layout you never tire of playing. Course in great winter condition.
Purchasing
I did not make it to my tee time.

Great even on a cold rainy day
Course was cart path only, but we still played in 4 hours.
The weather was cold and overcast all day. I have no complaints on how well they maintain this course, It's winter and it was winter golf. The course was in very good condition. The greens are starting to get some of the spotty winter grass on them but they rolled very nice.
Overall still the best value around.
Great Course
The guys that run this place are very personable and always going the extra mile.....
ALWAYS WORTH THE TRIP
Living in Dallas gets real boring. All the city courses are packed since the start of the pandemic. Both golf courses are always available and in great condition for any season. They are a joy to play and user friendly. My son and I make the trip at least once a year to get away from it all and have always had a good day when done.
Course conditions
Both courses are always in great shape and is well worth the drive. I personally live 60 miles from the course. Staff has always been friendly.
Could have been managed better
Course allowed 2 fivesomes together in front of us, asked if we could switch nines and were told that pace of play was fine and we should get back in line.
Hello and thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We will make sure to pass along your feedback to the staff to work on making the necessary changes. Thanks for visiting Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course!
I Like Links Courses
This is a fun "links" course far away from any ocean. Front 9 is treeless and full of humps and bumps and bunkers. Add a little wind, and you have your hands full. #7 is a fun drivable par 4 over a large pond.
There are a couple of holes where a lay-up is the prudent play - otherwise you're in the junk.
Enjoyable round.

Great condition very enjoyable round. Look forward to next time.
Golf tournament
My civic group has played golf tournaments at Squaw Valley for many years. Steve and his staff are always friendly and accessible. The new grill and bar areas were great for our group gathering after play. The course is always in nice condition and is playable for various levels of handicaps. We will play there again in 2021.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us! We are sorry to see that your experience was anything short of 5-stars. We appreciate the feedback and welcome you to reach out to our team in the pro shop for further resolution in this matter.
