Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Perfect
The sun was shining, the wind was light, the dormant Bermuda mowed, the greens were fast and frustrating, but the entire event was spectacular.
Always great
Both courses are great. Staff is always great. The bad: lack of drinking water on course. Have never played a course, especially in Texas that did not provide water. That is bordering on dangerous, especially in summer.
There should be other ways to save money! Otherwise, love to play here.
Great Golf
My friend and I played on a Friday and Saturday. Friday's weather was good but Saturday's was perfect. We come to town a couple of times per year. We love playing both courses at Squaw Valley.
great course
third time playing it and still enjoyed it. You can score on it and it can occasionally get you. Both 18's are fun and greens were in terrific shape. Used almost every club in the bag from the Blue tees
Great shape!!!
This course is in great shape after all the rain. If you've never played here, your in for a great time. 2 great courses to choose from.
Excellent condition,
Beautifully well maintained course. It’s a pleasure to play. The only downside is that 5 balls are allowed which slows down play considerably. We were a 4 ball playing off the Seniors & Ladies tees, consequently we play fast: faster due to the fact it was cold and wet yesterday.
We actually missed out 2 holes due to two 5 balls in front, went to the 10th, then were reprimanded for doing it. However, the 3 ball we jumped in front of were 2 or 3 holes behind when we were on the 18th.
I would have given 5* all the way had it not been for 5 balls playing: nowhere in the R&A rule book are 5 balls mentioned- it is just a way for courses to get more money.
Awesome
Course is in premium condition. Greens are very smooth and really fast which I like. 2some and we finished in a little over 3 hrs
Value
Best kept secret less than an hour from fort Worth
Squaw Valley
Both courses are in great shape every time I play here. 10/10 all the way around and I always meet great people while playing. If you haven’t played here you need to try it, plain and simple.
Squaw Valley
Love Squaw Valley. 2 beautiful courses that are completely different. Nice, helpful, knowledgeably staff. Great golf pro on staff. Usually easy to get a tee time. New food grill.
Course in nice shape from tee to green. Penalty areas well marked. Especially like the smooth, fast greens with sections divided by ridges and lot of personality. Starter was especially friendly and thanked us for coming out. Only downside was no water coolers or drinking fountains on the course. The front 9 is wide open with mounds lining the left and right sides of fairways and a sneaky bunker of two can catch you off guard if gone unnoticed. The back 9 is less links-like but a fun change. Took us 4 hours for a foursome because of a threesome in front of us being a bit slow.
Worth the drive
New snack bar and more seating. If you've never played here you need to. Great staff.
Golf in Hot, Hot Texas
The course was in great shape. My only complaint is that they do not have even a SINGLE water cooler on the entire course. I've never seen that on any course in Texas - or anywhere else for that matter.
The course is in great shape.
The course is in great shape in spite of the heat and dry weather. I always enjoy playing here.
36 Hole Gem
Love this course is always in great shape Tee box to Green.Well worth the 1hr drive from Fort Worth. There are 4 sets tees on each hole make sure to play the right one or you will struggle cause it is really long from the tips.Always a good pace of play
Great conditions. Only downside is no water coolers on course. I was informed of this before I teed off but with temperature at 100 and heat index around 107 was difficult to stay hydrated. Overall great experience.
Excellent condition
Fairways are in great shape and the rough is thick. Greens are a little slower than I prefer but they were consistent. One of my favorite tracks.
