Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Great!!
Wonderful course! The greens are in great shape. The fairways are very well taken care of. Even the bunkers are better then any other public course I've been to.
5 Stars
Favorite place to play. Conditions are always great. 2 great choices between 2 different courses. Well worth the drive. You won't be disappointed.
A favorite link style course of mine.
A challenging but very fun to play course.Great fairways and greens.Love the layout. You will use every club in your bag. Some long par 4s and some short par 4s.Even the sand traps were well maintained.Look forward to playing it again soon. Not another course of this caliber for the price. Thanks to everyone who works at SquawValley Golf!Great job!
Solid course
I enjoy playing either course, staff is always friendly. The course was ok to solid, it's August in Texas, so course held up. Greens were great!
Great course
We played the Apache Links in 3.5 hours. Course is in great shape. Greens roll true. I like the layout as it lets you challenge yourself as much as you want. Senior tees play a little short but the White Tees are about 1,000 yards longer. So the challenge is there. Plenty of trees, bummers and water. It is a fun course. Wish I had time to play the Comanche Lakes today!
Apache links
Overall good day of golf. Pace was horrible. Behind large family reunion group who took forever on each hole. Love both courses. Try to come to glen rose at least once a year to enjoy the golf.
Fantastic shape for August
It's been probably 25 years since I last played here. It's a fun course and in great shape. The front 9 was very slow there were 2 foursomes ahead of us and it took them nearly 15 minutes to complete one hole. After calling in they sent a Marshal out and it got a little better. The back 9 was alot better. I'll go back.
challenging mounds
one of the fun was dealing with many mounds in some holes. It was even more unpredictable than any other courses that I have been played.
It gave me very much fun and excitement. I love to play again.
Great Fun!
Was our first trip to this course and arrived to the course a little early and pro shop staff were very friendly and helpful. Said we could tee off as soon as we were ready. Greens were still recovering from aeration, but were still good to putt on and receptive. Fairways were in very good shape. Two groups allowed our twosome to play through with no delay. We were able to go and have a blast and play in under 3 hours. There were some very nice views of the creek and what you saw was what you got. The wind did pick up later in the round and we still had fun.
Memorial Day Weekend
We got a hot deal for a 1256 tee time on a day that was forecast in the 90s. Unexpectedly, we had some light rain that quit just after we teed off, making for a pleasantly cool day. Perhaps because of the forecast, there were not many foursomes on the course, and maybe because it rained that morning, the walk-up traffic was also light. So we had the course to ourselves. I'm a beginner and this was also my first time at Squaw Valley, but it seemed to me, and my more experienced partners agreed, the greens were heavily sanded. Except for that, everything was great! We'll be back.
Nice course even with greens just being aerated.
I had a good round. Greens were still puttable, course was in good shape. I would play again. The hot deal price was worth it.
Worth the drive from Fort Worth
Played in a threesome on a Saturday morning recently.
Great, well-kept course, with very difficult greens. They were a moderate pace, but there were no flat putts. It is worth the drive if you live on Fort Worth or southwest DFW. I played with locals, and they said the Lakes Course was just as nice.
Round took 3:45. Had to wait on a few par 3s and a the reachable par 5s, but that was it.
