Squaw Valley Golf Course - Apache Links Course
About
The original Squaw Valley course, Apache Links, opened in 1992–a Jeff Brauer design that is open on the front and more densely wooded on the back. Brauer’s work involved bringing in dirt to provide some mounding to the flat terrain, and he placed the course along a scenic creek that comes into play, mostly on the back.
No. 9 is the best hole on the front because of its split fairway. Macho men can go for the green by aiming over the lake–otherwise it plays a pedestrian 362 yards if you choose the left side, where it doglegs around the lake.
On the back, Nos. 15 and 16 are back-to-back par 4s that you’ll be glad to get out of the way. The 15th rolls 462 yards and doglegs right, requiring a tee shot over the creek. The long approach is especially challenging due to the long row of trees at the corner of the green. Hole 16 features an elevated green above Squaw Creek. Play for position off the tee because the hole is not long.

Great Fun!
Was our first trip to this course and arrived to the course a little early and pro shop staff were very friendly and helpful. Said we could tee off as soon as we were ready. Greens were still recovering from aeration, but were still good to putt on and receptive. Fairways were in very good shape. Two groups allowed our twosome to play through with no delay. We were able to go and have a blast and play in under 3 hours. There were some very nice views of the creek and what you saw was what you got. The wind did pick up later in the round and we still had fun.
Memorial Day Weekend
We got a hot deal for a 1256 tee time on a day that was forecast in the 90s. Unexpectedly, we had some light rain that quit just after we teed off, making for a pleasantly cool day. Perhaps because of the forecast, there were not many foursomes on the course, and maybe because it rained that morning, the walk-up traffic was also light. So we had the course to ourselves. I'm a beginner and this was also my first time at Squaw Valley, but it seemed to me, and my more experienced partners agreed, the greens were heavily sanded. Except for that, everything was great! We'll be back.
Nice course even with greens just being aerated.
I had a good round. Greens were still puttable, course was in good shape. I would play again. The hot deal price was worth it.
Worth the drive from Fort Worth
Played in a threesome on a Saturday morning recently.
Great, well-kept course, with very difficult greens. They were a moderate pace, but there were no flat putts. It is worth the drive if you live on Fort Worth or southwest DFW. I played with locals, and they said the Lakes Course was just as nice.
Round took 3:45. Had to wait on a few par 3s and a the reachable par 5s, but that was it.
One of the best values in Texas
This falls under the category of "certainly worth the drive," since you can play it for $30 or $40 and there are 36 holes here. In fact, both of the golf courses here are excellent, but I only played the original, the Apache Links Course, this time around. It's interesting, well-conditioned, challenging and beautiful. Several holes stood out, and I felt like I remembered most of the golf course after playing it just one time. The back nine is especially good, and I loved the finishing stretch. I'd suggest getting a hotel in town and playing both courses over a weekend if you're not from the area..
Fabulous round of golf
My husband and I played for $14 each. The course is beautiful, and in very good condition. We enjoyed it very much!
Best value in this area.
Great course layouts on both. Pace of play, course condition, and practice areas are excellent.
Great deal worth the drive
Always heard great things about Squaw Valley and they were all correct. Great layout Great people. Greens were extremely nice for this time of the year. Course was in SUPER good shape and I can on see it getting better when it grows in. My only Complaint and a word of caution is they let 5'somes out and we teed off behind two of them so the pace of play was Slow and there was no playing through. Overall Great experience and will be going back again.
Squaw creek links
Course was in ok shape for the time of year it is. Greens were good. Overall play was real good. This is basically my home course and really enjoy playing here.
A Day of Golf
Had a great day at Squaw Valley. The staff was very friendly and they even took care of our lunch since we had a few minutes before our tee-time. The greens were probably the best I've played on in a while. I will definitely be back for another round.
Great course, greens are in very good condition!!
Great course
Everything was great. Carts were fast and clean.
Excellent track in great shape.
Lakes course is a challenge, but large greens and clear views are helpful. Some elevation changes not found in DFW courses - great value for conditions. Anxious to play Links course next time. Too bad it's so far away from Metroplex.
