About
Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

Why no cart girl?
The course was great! Real sand in the bunkers, greens rolled true, course in great shape, nice practice facility, and NO CART GIRL! Why?
Southern Dallas County Gem
First time to play Tangle Ridge. Check in was easy and good COVID sfatey procedures in place. I walked the course and found to be a moderate course to walk as there is quite a bit of elevation change (for Dallas).
Course is in great shape. Tee boxes, greens and fairways are in better condition than some private clubs I have played.
Played from the blue tees and enjoyed the challenge. The course to me is a fair test of golf.
I will be back as I am adding Tangle Ridge to my monthly rotation schedule.

Pace
Pace of play was great on front 9 and the group ahead of us only played 9 holes. But for some reason we waited on every shot on the back 9 and on the last three holes there were three groups on each hole. SLOW back 9.

WON'T PLAY AGAIN 2020
My twosome was at course and ready to play 45 minutes before 1pm tee time. Check in puts us behind 30 walking high girls and boys. After 2 holes Marshall shows up and moves in front of high school kids. Didn't catch Marshall name but we were looking at 5 hour round(at least)..........GO TRUMP

Really excellent everytime I play here
Makes some country clubs that cost you a soul and child look like a dump.. beautiful and the average person who isn't allowed to go to a country club and wouldn't want to anyway can afford it. Play here and see for yourself. Amazing!

Extra $9?
I was very surprised when they hit me up for an additional $9 to ride alone. Only course in area that I know of to do this. Maybe I should have ridden with a stranger and mail them the medical bills if I got the dreaded covid. Not right or ethical.

Meh
Great course layout! Reminded of us some hill country courses. Conditions were slightly above average. Staff friendly and welcoming. Excellent covid protocols in clubhouse for check-in. The one MAJOR issue that needs some remedy are the mosquitos. They were horrible on pretty much every hole, relentless. Please spray the course or do something. If you play here, bring and wear big spray and reapply often until they spray.
