About
Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

Good course
Good course. This is the first time I played this course and I had a good time. I will play here again. The fairways were in good condition but the greens were a little sandy but it didn't cause any problems. If you are in the area I would recommend that you play here. The personnel in the refreshment carts did an outstanding job of taking care of the golfers.

Not your typical flat DFW course
This course is laid out well over some of the most hilly land in DFW. Lots of risk/reward holes and slopey greens. Played after course received a lot of rain so it played very soft. Would love to play again in firmer conditions to play some of the run up shots that were designed.

As anticipated, which beats most!
I've played here only once prior and recall Tangle Ridge's more undulating fairways and hole designs.
Pros/Cons - some of them - as I see it.
+Better conditions than 5+ years ago!
+Several holes have character and require placement or shot shaping to successfully position your ball due to slopes or critical bunkering/water.
+ Playable for beginner to advanced.
+ Price on a hot deal on GolfNow is right in line.
- Could be better with better greens (very thatchy in places) and tightening up some slightly rough edges, although some spots are under repair while other spots appear to simply more TLC.
TO BE CLEAR - I LIKE THIS COURSE AND INTEND TO HAVE IN "THE ROTATION" GOING FORWARD.
I would not likely pay over $50 to play here. It is a very very good mid-tier course and unlike many in this category - delivers on expectations!
On par with Hawks Creek, Southern Oaks, Indian Creek.
I'd rank it ahead of Pecan Valley, Whitestone, Hidden Creek (no disrespect to those fine offerings! It just seems to have more character and solid maintenance.

Very Hot Day
Course is in great shape. Some of the greens were sandy but there was an aerification warning when I made the tee time. It looks like hole 8 is getting some work done to it but didn’t affect our play. It was a very hot day and we only saw the cart girl once. The marshall did make a few trips checking up on golfers.

One of My favorites in the DFW Area
Fantastic conditioned course, challenging, interesting, great terrain changes. Had no idea such a beautiful course existed in North Texas. Definitely didn't feel like your normal metroplex course.

First time but not the last time
I’ve been wanting to play here for years just never made it out, and boy have I been missing out!! Very challenging course but rewarding if you play smart. Course seems to have been punched recently but it’s still in really good shape. Pace of play was very good on the front 9 but came to a dead stop on 11 with 3 groups stacked up. There must’ve been a change in Marshall’s because I seen one 3 times on the front and didn’t see another until we were on 17 other than that this course is top notch I’ll definitely be back!
