Clear Creek Golf Course

Its a tuff course for the first time playing. The greens are fast and tuff pin locations. Its a great challenge and Ill play this course again.

The pace of play was slow. The course had lots of standing water. The greens were fast but lots of unrepaired divots.

Ground was baked clay and rough was more weeds than anything else. Overall, it was a push..wouldn’t play here unless it was a “hot deal”.

So honest review here, the course is great but there are some small quirks that may bug you. The layout is pretty good, bunkers are well placed and it has enough hazards and water to keep you honest. The greens are very fast and very difficult. You won't see anything that fast for the price besides memorial. Raised greens, water surrounded greens, plateaus and rolling slopes. The fairways are pretty hard so your drives roll for miles.

Now the bad, nobody to enforce proper golf etiquette. Pitch marks everywhere on the greens that nobody repairs. Slow pace of play on holidays and weekends. And the range faves the west and leaves you blind in the twighlight hours (at least in the fall).

First time back to Clear Creek in over a decade. While I generally remember the course layout, the ever present wind and the sound of remote controlled aircraft around the course, the greens were faster than I remembered. It is good to see that they are still getting plenty of rounds on weekends, but like most places these days, the course could use some rain...maybe that’s why the greens were so slick.

Bunkers are full of sand and in great shape-no rakes yet-that’s OK.

Staff was nice.

Have now played the course from spring through the heat to our great fall weather. The greens are private club level. The fairways are done suffering the heat. The course layout, green contours etc make this little dandy tough enough but enjoyable.
