Clear Creek Golf Course
About
Clear Creek Golf Course is a flat, wide-open links-style track loaded with water and bunkers. The only sort of elevation changes you'll experience come from the ravines that route through the course and the undulating greens.
The back nine is the more challenging, spiced up by some interesting par 3s and two outstanding par 5s. Clear Creek's 11th hole goes 555 yards and involves an approach over a ravine, and No. 13 is a 584-yard monster that double-doglegs to a skinny green framed by bunkers.

Nice track
I booked a 12:30 tee time for cheap. I was expecting the course to be empty due to it being midweek and 95+ degree weather. Nope, it was packed. I was a single and joined two other singles to do what we could to help the pace. Once we made the turn, the course opened up and we picked up our pace.
On another note, the course was in great shape. For the hot deal price I paid, it can't be beat.
Slow second round
Went out at noon the first time on a hot deal. Was well worth the $ I paid for that. The course was challenging. I played a second round that started at about 3:30 PM. the first nine were great then pace of play screeched to a halt!! Could not finish it was agonizing. I only gave the course a 3 star rating because the rough was so tall and full of grass clippings that it was impossible to find a wayward shot. Also the bunkers were crusty and Hard. Fairways and greens in great shape....Now if I could only hit them!!
CLEAR CREEK
THE FAIRWAYS ARE IN GREAT CONDITION AND THE GREENS ARE ABOVE AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR
Great well kept course
This was a great course. I was surprised by the well kept greens and GPS. Little if any shade but cold beer on the 19th for $2. Will be back.
Play Here for the LONG DRIVES off the tee
I will agree with other reviews on the pace of play. Though I teed off at 6:30am and worked myself around one groups of two, by the time I finished that same two-some was only on the 11th hole. As I finished , I saw there was a large back up at the 3rd to 1st hole with players hands on their hips waiting and waiting to hit and it appeared the slower groups did not have a care in the world or took notice. ( Where at those volunteer Marshalls that work for FREE golf??) Just my observation. I would have been upset if I teed up at 8:30am to this display.
The greens were mostly good to better and fairways are pretty wide open. I enjoyed using my Thunderstick off the tee to gain 20 to 30 more yds without worrying too much about a lost ball. The only pits of the course are the SAND TRAPS. Everyone else has already addressed this issue in their reviews.
Can't say there was a hole that struck me as a Signature Hole, but I did like #2 and #11 for its Risk-Reward factor. ( I played it safe on account of so-so drives did not give me the opportunity)
I would play again just for the ability to use my driver to its fullest potential. FYI: I am a 14 HCP that plays 3 to 4 times a week from May to Sept.
After the Rain
As we were checking in a huge storm rolled in. It looked as if we would not be able to play. We had a bite to eat in the club house. After about 20 mins. the storm move on an we were able to tee off. The coarse was in perfect shape. The storm cooled the air but it could'nt help my poor round. But the overall experience was a memorable one.
Great course for the price
Course is in good condition. Fairways and greens are in good shape.
needs help!
I played this course several years ago, remembered it as a very open, but OK course. The course was in horrible shape. Almost every sand trap had no sand, there were actually weeds growing in the traps...99% were unplayable. They had more sand on the greens then they had in any trap. The greens were like putting on the beach. Lots of overgrowth on the fairways and rough, like they have not mowed in a week. However, I was able to get a VERY good deal on Golf Now, so the $20 pp I paid, I guess was worth the round. With Southwyck right around the corner, it will be hard to go back.
Casual Golfer on vacation!!
Good course for the money! Will return!
Great day of golf
My son and I played the round in 2-1/2 hours. The course was wide open. With the GPS in the cart, it made pace of play so nice. All you had to do was look at the distance from the flag, grab a club and play.
Everything was great. The only negative was the bunkers. They looked like they had not been taken care of in quite some time. Maybe they have not recovered fromnt he recent flooding in the area.
Challenging, but playable tract.
Course was in good shape for a municipal course. Water and high rough provide inducement to stay in fairway. Excessive rain had traps packed down. Greens were in fair to good condition and putted true and were holding for approach shots. Good location, just 20-25 minutes from downtown Hiouston. Good pace in the morning.
Great Deal for the Money
The course was in pretty good shape, greens have been better in the past though. Bunkers were garbage. The pace of play was surprisingly good as most times it is not.
Great value, can't miss.
I had an afternoon free when visiting Houston and got a tee time through he app. I rented clubs and the staff was wooden. I tried to discuss the course and golf in Texas in general, but they acted annoyed. The rental clubs were excellent, Titleists all the way through. I took a large bucket to the range and was very impressed with the practice facilities. The putting green is exactly like the actual greens and was a helpful warm-up. I played with two young guys who just graduated from dentistry school. They made the round a lot of fun.
The course itself was in great shape. Very few bare patches, the rough was fair and the greens were true. Unfortunately the layout is flat and characterless. I used a lot of shots that are out of the ordinary, knock downs in he wind and run-ups. But as for a course that gives you photo ops, this one isn't it. The gps on the cart is outstanding. It saved me at least o few times. The flat layout tends to make holes look longer than they actually are.
Overall, the course is in great shape, but lacks character. The staff is made up of guys who would rather be out playing golf than talking to you about it. But I had a great time and will probably return when I am next in Houston.
The course has good drainage!
Carts need more care!
No sand on cart or at refill station!
Some people try to help by filling divots!
Great Value
I have played Clear Creek many times before and believe it's probably the best deal going right now on the south side of town. It's always in great shape and the greens are not only spacious but they roll well and at a decent pace. Fairways are rather large and ball releases even with the amount of rain lately. The course drains well after a rain with some very small areas of standing water. The practice/putting green allows for sufficient warm up prior to teeing off and the driving range is adequate as well. $25 on a Saturday is a great price for this course.

The course was in good shape but the greens could be faster. Good pace of play. I would recommend this course.
Ok for money
Clear creek used to answer the phone, "the best conditioned course in Houston." I can see why they stopped. I played there quite a bit circa 2004- 2008 (at least 4 times a month) and this was my first round there in 3-4 yrs; I was sadly disappointed. The one thing that made clear creek standout to me was the impeccable conditions of their greens regardless of what time of year you played. They were always really nice cut, rolled, firm but receptive, and had at least a 10 to 11 stimp. Maybe I just caught the course during a transition period but the greens were really the worst I've ever seen them and I easily have 150-200 rounds on that course. Bumpy, furry, and hard. Very inconsistent speed from green to green. Also some looked like they were recently aerated and sandy while others weren't. Not sure what was going on. I also noticed how much the fairways needed water. If you hit a decent drive it would bounce and roll for days. The fairways need water bad. All the traps are in need of new sand, especially in the practice area. The rest of the facilities are starting to show there wear as well. The clubhouse needs a little upgrading and the range is in need of new balls. I used to think it was a great public course and would definitely recommended it over any of the other course in the area, but sadly just like Southwych went dowhill it appears clear creek is in a state of decline as well.
