About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in April 2018.
Located just southeast of downtown Houston, Glenbrook Golf Course tumbles across dramatically rolling terrain. The course traverses a bayou, which adds scenery but makes it a tough layout to walk since you often have to cross long bridges. There are many risk-reward opportunities where the more accurate you are, the greater the reward. Stands of mature trees line the fairways at Glenbrook and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-5 ninth, which demands a tough 180-yard carry over a wide creek that sits just in front of the green. Even with a good tee shot down the long fairway, you'll still have to lay up to make it onto the green.

Nice course for the money
This was the third time I played this course. It is the nicest course in the area and will definitely be coming back for a long time.
ghost town
The club house was closed had to check in at snack bar and the lady there was not friendly although the price was cheap I don't think I will be playing ther anytime soon , the carts were dirty the tee boxes were not very visible on some holes, pace of play was great the place was empty..
First Time at Glenbrook
The course was fine but the carts were terrible. The first cart died at the second green. They brought one out and it was failing by the ninth green. Cart number three had a flat tire. Cart number 4 got me through the back nine.
Sad shape
This course is the one I played when I was beginning to learn. It has been good for many years but after yesterday, iy is about to be on my do not play again list. The greens wete decent for this time of year. The bunkers were not playable and had not been touched since the last time it had rained. We watched the workers tow in many carts that had run out of juice. I played it because it was only $10.
the staff is bad
Lady in staff very bad attitude, rude
golf carts are falling apart full of spider webs and the batteries on carts barley make it the round
Showing age
This is a mature coarse to say the least. I have played it many times in the past and I'm sure that I will again, but beyond cutting the grass, there doesn't seem to be much else going on in the way of maintenance or upgrades. I don't know if it had rained or if the irrigation was on overtime, but it was very muddy and the sand traps were drenched; some holding water. My cart died just as I got to the 18th green, I walked in. I enjoyed myself but it made me wonder about the future of this coarse.
Glenbrook
I like the course and the price. I see a lot of reviews say the course is in terrible condition, but I did not think so. It's a Muni Course for a really good price.
It's challenging for 95+ golfer (like most courses), the greens were good and the fairway was average. I think if you want a country club course, you need to go to a country club.
Poor upkeep.
Glenbrook is a long and challenging course. It's sad to say but since it's close and on golfnow I've played here many times. Perhaps it would be better if they actually cut the grass. You can't distinguish most tee boxes from the so called fairway. I will say most of the greens are in average condition, they actually break. This course would be amazing if the upkeep was above average. Losing your ball in the fairway because the grass is to talk is pathetic.
Will never return
The front desk attendant was very rude to us as we checked in and made it clear that because we paid a discounted rate, we are not entitled to anything and that he controls what and how the deal is used. He would not listen to any of our requests and was very rude! I am never going back there again. I don't care how cheap the deal is, you treat everyone with respect. Lastly, the course is in horrible condition.
In Good Shape
Fairways and greens are in good shape. Carts need an update. Pace of playing was excellent and staff was very friendly. Will play again.
Typical city course
Typical city course, greens in good shape. Mowed grass everywhere. Raking the bunkers at 2:00 in the afternoon. So the bonkers were in terrible shape. Carts look like the aftermath of a day in rush hour traffic on Houston's freeways. If it wasn't for the great price on Golfnow.com, this course would be a PASS. Time to fire the Lopez Mgt. group and repair one of Houson's oldest courses.
Awful
for $39 you could pay 1/2 that at a nicer course. The tee boxes haven't been mowed since who knows when. Weeds as high as my knees. The "fairways" if you could even call them that were in the same condition. Weeds as high as my knees. The course is not very well marked and difficult to know where you were heading to. The greens, while smooth, were inconsistent speed wise. The bunkers looked like the aftermath of the acopolypse. Dry and cracked. The course is a dog track. or a cow pasture or whatever field you can think of that is not worthy of playing golf on. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO PLAY.
Course needs work
Arrived and couldn't find anyone in pro shop or snack bar. Someone rode up in a golf cart after about 15 mins of searching. The course was in terrible shape. Several fairways had damage from what appeared to be wild hogs. Fairways appeared to have not been mowed for days. Tee boxes rough. Last round for me here.
Course is fun to play
Unfortunately, there is zero maintenance on the whole golf course. Sad, it could be better. Staff ?.... there is no staff, only one multiple task lady, she does Jack of all Trades, I hope she is either pay accordingly or head of the management company. Too bad
Gross
This may be the worst golf course in Houston. The carts are disgusting. I mean not only was the exterior of the car it's extremely dirty. I would like to emphasize extremely but it appeared that the inside of the carts cupholder seats storage areas had not been cleaned in a very very long time. There is no Fairway everything is rough. Some of the grass on the fairway was as high as my knee. This is on a Monday when courses are usually in good condition because of weekend play. This is more like playing range ball in a cow pasture. Is really a shame because this course has a very nice layout. Unfortunately, I would not recommend wasting one dime on this golf course. Ridiculous!!!!
Poor Experience
The course argued about the price I reserved on GolfNow vs what he wanted to charge when I showed up. Even the golfnow price was too high for this course that is not well maintained or well run. The cart they drove out for me had a completely flat tire and they made it seem as if I being a big inconvenience for asking them to fix it or give me another. Only positive is that the course was empty and we could take our time in surprisingly nice weather. Again, for the money there are much better maintained courses in Houston.
Course uses Sim Bayou to challenge you!
I played this course for the first time yesterday and I must say it was challenging and fun. You have to hit over Sims Bayou about 7 times or so, and with me being the hacker I am, that was hard.
Decent course
Great location 5 min from LAX! Met great guys we had a blast!
Great potential, poor maintenance and management
Poor condition, including carts, cart paths, bridges, fairways, greens, and rough. It was a very hot day with only 4-5 cars in the parking lot when I arrived 30 minutes early for a 2:00 tee time. The lady checking me in said I would have to wait until 2:00 even though there were no other golfers in sight and probably only 1 or 2 on the course at that time. I almost left but after complaining she let me tee off "early". I finished in 2 hours and never saw another golfer on the course during the round. In fairiess, the check in lady also works the "snack bar", takes care of the carts, and is probably only following management policy. She was the only employee on site except for the maintenance people painting the greens during the entire round. I grew up playing this course and it is ashamed that the current mannagement company has let it deteriorate to its current condition.
A local golf course with great potential
Glenbrook is an interesting layout with challenging and varied holes. The course is very playable since the grass is healthy and could be improve on its maintenance. The biggest downfall is the carts are never cleaned, many run out of battery in mid round and the club house could be better organized and clean as well. The staff is nice and the course is a bargain for it's playability. I enjoy it and has interesting holes. Will play again.
