About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in April 2018.
Located just southeast of downtown Houston, Glenbrook Golf Course tumbles across dramatically rolling terrain. The course traverses a bayou, which adds scenery but makes it a tough layout to walk since you often have to cross long bridges. There are many risk-reward opportunities where the more accurate you are, the greater the reward. Stands of mature trees line the fairways at Glenbrook and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-5 ninth, which demands a tough 180-yard carry over a wide creek that sits just in front of the green. Even with a good tee shot down the long fairway, you'll still have to lay up to make it onto the green.

Good for the Buck
This course uses the Sims Bayou brilliantly as you have to crossover it a number of times teeing off which makes this course somewhat difficult.
Scrubby course
For the price of the tee time, its not worth the money of time to drive over there. Course has many low spots full of water and very muddy on some cart paths. Tee boxes need some maintaining and most importantly: how about some directions to the next hole?? i would go again, if the tee time was free.
Lots of challenging water to cross
7 holes cross a bayou with one hole needing to cross two waterways
staff made experience an overall disappointing
staff dismissive and course was a step above a common country pasture. greens ok but that was barely ok, best part of golf course is the cart path.
tough layout
tough layout bit confusing around 16 and 17 holes.
The pro shop staff was not appreciative of Golf Now business.
We fought the traffic across town to try out an old course for the first time. We arrived early but were told that we had to wait an hour before we could tee off. Since we were an hour early for our tee time, we knew that the course had the right to ask us to wait. But during our one hour wait, only two groups and a walker teed off. The imposed wait was rude by the staff. Other courses on Golf Now allow us to tee off earlier if we will not impede the normal flow of the course. We won't play there again. We were only able to play 11 holes in 2 hours and 50 minutes and had to leave to go to work.
good greens
Fast greens, elevation changes, great layout, fun to play. Fairways could use some grooming, airplanes and I-45 create noise, cant trust yardages on tee or scorecard, very few yardage markers in fairway, a lot of hazards that cannot be seen from the tee, had trouble finding the next tee box on some holes, overall a fun course for a good price, not very busy.
As for the course it seemed to be very nice
As for the course it seemed to be very nice, but the staff were very rude and degrading to us. I will never go back to this course to be treated like a second class citizen...
Nice way to pass the day.
I haven't played this course is a few years, but not much has changed. It's an older course with a few challenging holes and exciting shorts over water...Bring extra balls. The greens were in good condition, but the fairways needed mowing. A little rough around the edges, but overall not a bad inner city course. The clubhouse staff could be friendlier though.
Overall, very nice course!
Although a couple of tee boxes need some work, especially No 13.
Glenbrook is still hang in' in there!!
Wasn't expecting much, based on recent reviews, but pleasantly surprised by how nice the course was. Fairways nice, greens soft & receptive, bunkers raked & full of soft sand. Of course, Glenbrook is in a class by itself - quirky, short, and full of risk-reward shots, but for what they're charging, give it a try!
Has potential
Needs a good general clean up.
Water hazards full of unsightly rubbish/bottles etc
A bit dissappointing
The course is in good condition. looks like they are running on a tight budget though.
I have been playing Glenbrook since the mid seventies and it is evident that they are strugglìng. The course is in fair shape and playable. Greens are fair with few bare spots. Fairways are a little thin. Club house is due for a major overhaul, but functional. Still enjoy playing this course.
course needs help
Not maintained fairways out of control. The greens are also bad
The ruough
The course is a nice course, but the rough needs to be maintained better. Too many balls were lost and it was directly hit in the fairway and inbounds.
this course features several holes that are sure to stay in your mind
much more difficult than it looks. however if the player has the skill to shape his shots and is good at both his long and short game, it is a fair test. great for honing your skills and preparing for any upcoming tournaments. lots of trees. staying focused on the short grass and playing within your abilities with provide for a good outing.
Unpleasant staff!
All 18 greens have fungus and large bare spots .Fairways and tee boxes have weeds and st. Augustine. Do not show up early. With golfnow discount Can not tee off til right at your tee time. I waited 45 min. no one teed off in front of me.I will not be back and I only paid $9
Sims bayou!
I love every single hole! It's not the best track that I've played but it's an amazing challenge! You have to be accurate and be able to shape shots to play well. It's a hidden gem! So much fun and carrying Sims Bayou 7 times is not for the weak at heart! For a municipal course, I say it's a must play but not for beginners.
.Difficult to determine remaining yardage from the fairway
Fair course, but hard to figure out layout and sometimes difficult to figure out where the next tee box is.
