About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in April 2018.
Located just southeast of downtown Houston, Glenbrook Golf Course tumbles across dramatically rolling terrain. The course traverses a bayou, which adds scenery but makes it a tough layout to walk since you often have to cross long bridges. There are many risk-reward opportunities where the more accurate you are, the greater the reward. Stands of mature trees line the fairways at Glenbrook and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-5 ninth, which demands a tough 180-yard carry over a wide creek that sits just in front of the green. Even with a good tee shot down the long fairway, you'll still have to lay up to make it onto the green.

Glenbrook
Nice challenging course ! Love the wide layout ! Great price. I'm a long ball hitter so it is a great course for long ball hitters like myself ...
So-so
This was the second time playing Glenbrook that I was stranded on the course by a dead golf cart. The carts need some maintenance, along with the greens. The greens were fast, not unusual for near summer time play, but some greens were also in poor condition. I would spend the extra money for a nicer course with better equipment, even for just a quick practice game.
Waste of time & money period
The course looked like it was never maintained for years.
Yardage is wrong. Can't tell the difference among tee box, fairway and rough, because they is rarely grass anywhere. The whole course is yellow. Bunker was like a big chunk of rock. Players were rude. Balls flying when people were actually on fairway. Almost got hit twice. Staff was not friendly, not even close.
Won't come back even if it's free.
Glenbrook
I love to play Glenbrook it is very challenging, it goes over the bayou several times. The course intimidate me a lot, special the 2nd hole.
But it is so much fun and the front nine are very beautiful. Go give it a try.
I wish the ever would renovate the clubhouse.
Great course for the money
Extremely helpful employee. She seemed to be "Chief cook n Bottle washer" The course was great to play although the 20 knot winds made for a challenging round. Only 1/2 of the bathroom facilities were in working order..and there was no toilet paper...poor maintainance is ovious. The front desk was shut down and the course seemed to be run from the snack bar. Once we completed the 18 holes there was someone that came to our car , picked up our cart and took it back to the club house. I though that was a nice ammenity.
Good Course, Needs a little help
Course was in relatively good shape. For the price the greens (which I pretty much judge all courses on, if you can fairly putt a green then the other stuff can be delt with) were in good shape. Seems that the area wants to close the course for a botanical garden. I think this would be a waste of a decent piece of property and this place just needs some better marketing and liiiittle more money. Love the Dog at the entrance, very friendly :)
Decent for the money
Well if you can get a tee time for $15-20 it might be worth your while to go here. The scorecard and yardages are quite hilariously off. First hole on the card says 340 and I hit a driver 40 yards deep, come to find out the hole is actually 280. The conditions of the greens is poor on the front and below average on the back. The lack of actual fairways makes the course less than desirable.
Course
Course was in ok shape... Great layout with plenty of trees.. Some greens where horrible, but overall a good municiple course.. If your playing from the whites, you might drive a couple of greens...
On a very wet day
I played the course on a very wet day, but found it very interesting, the first 6 holes get the appetite going, there are a few quirky holes, but overall despite the weather i found the course in good condition and enjoyed the experience, i look forward to playing there again in better weather conditions
Cart died
I never write reviews but our cart died. We called the clubhouse multiple times with no answer so we had to lug our golf bag all the way back to the parking lot for the last 3 holes. We werent the only ones this happened to as we saw a graveyard of carts on the way back. If the carts aren't charged for a full 18 you should at least be courteous enough to answer the phone and pick us up or drop off another cart. I won't be playing Gleenbrook again
Ok course
Gras needed to be cut , when u cant find ur ball in the fairway because grass is too high time to cut
Glenbrook GC
Nice course but in need of better signage.
Greens could have use some work.
Love hitting over water.
Love this course because you have to hit over the bayou 5 or six times. I play here a lot but this was the first time I used the golfnow app to save and I saved 1/2 price baby. Going to use the golfnow app for all my golf t-times now. Me and my friends play once a month for "The Man Trophy" and I won it this month #happywinner lol...
Can't believe I payed money for this course
Where to begin with this train wreck? First of all, we arrived and the guy working the desk at the pro shop would not honor the discounted price we received when we booked our team time through THEIR website! Instead we paid full price for a Sunday morning tee time. I brought the wife along to ride, so of course he tacked on an extra $12 for a riding fee. I also was informed that there was no driving range, and only a poorly maintained putting green to warm up one. Glad I arrived early! A note on the website may be a good idea in the future!
On to the course...without a doubt the most confusing course I have ever played. Most of our time here was spent wandering aimlessly between holes trying to figure out where we needed to go next. Greens were HORRIBLE and the rest of the course was not much better. Add that in with the fact that guys behind us felt the need to hit their drives into our group every other hole, (not the courses fault, but a marshal to complain to would have been nice).
This course is honestly, a straight up dump. I wish I had the presence of mind to take a photo of the 10th green. Its fronted by a little creek that was probably more trash than it was water. Its a shame, because the layout is actually pretty fun with a lot of crossing over the bayou. It is just absolutely not maintained well enough to be worth even a single dollar. I wouldn't go back here if I had a free round.
Bargain
We purchased a hot deal for $20. I wouldn't pay more than $30. Course was barely in fair condition. Greens horrible but I'll chalk that up to spring greens coming in.
Sub par for a muni.
Excellent value
715am foursome tee time. Nice lady gave us cart keys. Temp was 41degrees.Only a twosome in front of us and walking single w/c we let thru on the 4th hole. Havent played this course for more than 5yrs so was surprised that its in better condition. Some greens have clumps of grass but understandable since its been freezing for two weeks. Not bad if you're not expecting country club conditions for $23ea including cart, tax& golfnow fees. Not a good course for beginners, lots of long drive carry over water, a fun course.
Can the lady get some HELP
Showed up early one cold and wet morning the poor lady that works as a cook was rushing to and from the cart barn while trying to run the pro shop!!Guys grow a pair and help that lady!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Course is ok
The course was as expected for the season, leaves were everywhere. There was a lot of slow play due to tee times not staggered and not having good marshals. If you are looking for a cheap course with some good holes, I would recommend playing here if you don't mind the rate of play.
280? Sounds like you were not playing the proper tees for a gentleman.
