About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in April 2018.
Located just southeast of downtown Houston, Glenbrook Golf Course tumbles across dramatically rolling terrain. The course traverses a bayou, which adds scenery but makes it a tough layout to walk since you often have to cross long bridges. There are many risk-reward opportunities where the more accurate you are, the greater the reward. Stands of mature trees line the fairways at Glenbrook and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-5 ninth, which demands a tough 180-yard carry over a wide creek that sits just in front of the green. Even with a good tee shot down the long fairway, you'll still have to lay up to make it onto the green.

Stay on the short grass
Nice, average golf course. Play on the fairway the rough will eat some balls. All in all had a great day at the golf course.
Okay Muni...
I had never played this course before and took advantage of a GolfNow $10 inclusive special. The course has so much potential if they would spend some money on it. It plays over a bayou on six holes and has some chanllenging green placements. However the fairways are as bad as the roughs and finding the tee boxes can be a bit of a challenge. I have a depth perception problem and can't judge yardage so on almost every hole I was guessing as to the yardage. If they could just paint some color on the cart path and put up a few directional signs to let you know where some of the holes are it would go a long way. Also, I was there on a day when the heat index was well over 100 degrees and the ground was as hard as baked adobe, but they made us keep the carts on the path. Not even a 90 degree rule. As a result the pace of play was very slow. Being a muni there were a lot of beginners and duffers on the course spraying their shots. So, they had to park the cart and then hunt for their balls. If they had been allowed to drive the cart that would have cut down the time and sped them up. Also, between the crabgrass on the fairways and the dead weeds left behind on the fairways when the water receded after the bayou overran it's banks a couple weeks ago I lost three balls in the middle of the fairway. I mean it was so thick in some places in the fairway you could literally stomp around and still not feel your ball underneath it. I work a lot out of Hobby airport which is less than 5 min away so I might play it again with the $10 special, but I could never see myself paying more than that for such a poor course.
Enjoyed the outing
I knew what to expect having played there once before in a tournament.
Great value
Nice layout. Some short par fours but some good par 3's. Greens were surprisingly nice. Fairways and tee boxes need help. But for 10 dollars I wouldn't complain.
8 Year absence validted
I had not played Glenbrook in over 8 years. So i decided to take a chance and test out the redesign. First of all, while the scorecard indicates changes to the front nine, i.e. lengthening, it was the same course i played 8 years ago. Second, there were at least 3 groups of 6 or more on the course in front of our twosome, so pace of play was horrible. Third, our cart broke down and we had to walk several holes before the replacement came. Overall it seems the only thing that changed was the greens, and the 14th hole which was lengthened into a par 5. Not worth the trip.
Great course for the money!!!
Very interesting layout! If the fairways were in better conditions this could be an excellent course! Nevertheless, really enjoyed the round
Course
This course is not good, especially for the money paid. Not well kept from golf course to clubhouse to carts.
Needs Repair
the course was very challenging. However, the fairways, we're in bad shape too much crab grass all over, fairways needing a lot of attention, watering, cut, etc. Greens have not been punched a while, real ruff. some bunkers we're also in very bad shape.
All around good course
Friendly good location nice greens good course for the money
course is very playable.
You can play at a quick pace, not very many golfers on the course. The course is in pretty good shape for being a municipal course. Greens are very fast plus the fairways and greens have been manicured. Fun and challenging course with demanding shots. The only problem was there is no water to hydrate on the course. Take water and a cooler to hydrate along the way. Other than that this is a fun course to play.
owner was rude
The owner or manager art was pretty much an a hole. I set a tee time for 4 and one of the guys couldn't make it the least minute. He told me I had to pay for four. And on top of that he didn't honor the money I had paid in golfnow. Told me golfnow was making me pay extra and I've used it before and never had any issues besides here. Also he was charging 13 dollars for 10 practice balls. He told me to read the fine print on golfnow as well. not friendly at all. He is the only reason why we won't go back. The course was decent. I did enjoy playing there, it's just sad someone like him is running it. No marshals and no starters.
Charming course
I played alone under threat of bad weather, so I had the course to myself and thus played very fast. Conditions were good. Do not play this course if you don't like forced carries.
The course played slow no Marshall on the course.
Course needs to be repaired. The cart path need distance markers or some kind of fairway reference markers.
challenging course
Love the first hole. You must start with your A game.
Will not be back
Lots of bunkers and out of bounds areas. Courses are hard to make out, flags are difficult to see till approach shot. Greens are small and fast. Carts are very poor as well. I will not be back.
Poorly Maintained Municipal Course
The course was not in very good condition. The actual layout of the course is hard to follow. You finish one hole, and then it is difficult to locate the next tee box.
Great deal for the price
First time playing here. Course was in great conditions for the price. Only two tee boxes left something to be desired.
If you're tired of the run of the mill, flat course with no personality, give this course a run.
Glenbrook Golf course
There was a lot of rain the day before and a lot of the course was flooded. Maybe the price should reflect course conditions. Really nice course in dry conditions. Drainage in certain areas needs to be improved. Enjoyed the game but the wet made it even more challenging. I only play public courses.
