Very rough conditions
Fairways and tee boxes in very poor condition. Greens okay. No cart paths throughout majority of fairways didn't help matters. Needs ball washers, drinking water, and restrooms since one does not loop by the clubhouse between the front and back nines.
The course did not have complete cart paths
Interesting course for sure. All I can say is $10 is cheaper then rang balls! If your thinking about coming from out of town just to play here, don't. It's unkept. Like I said, if your in the area and don't expect much, for $10 it's not bad.
Poor condition-great value
We got the very low price offered at mid-day. That made this a great value. Don't expect the well-maintained conditions you usually see at a Beach course.
Great Pa r3's
Overall the course was maintained, but f you are looking for a pristine course to play this is not the course for you, however if you are looking for a fun course to play without the Outer Banks prices this has great value for the money.
Great Par 3's
Overall this was a fun course to play with some challenging holes and narrow fairways. If you are looking for a pristine golf course this is not for you, but f you are looking for a fun course to play and not pay the Outer Banks prices this is the place. Played this course twice this week as well as Nags Head. My golf scores were virtually the same on both courses.
Great place to build a golf course...some day.
I read the reviews on GolfNow before playing at Holly Ridge but I just couldn't pass up 18 holes with cart for $8.00. The lady working in the "pro shop" was friendly and had a sense of humor. She gave me a key to a cart and sent me on my way. I was pleased with the cart. It was probably only two years old, it was clean and electric. I found my way to the first tee and found out that at $8.00 I had over paid. The tee wouldn't qualify as rough on most courses. Fairways were undistinguishable from rough. There is a power line that bisects many of the fairways. The greens were small and relatively flat making three putts rare. The traps were like concrete. The pace of play could have been even quicker because the course is relatively short. Most of the par fours require only a pitching wedge for your second shot and big hitters can drive some of the greens. There was a five-some out there but they let me through as soon as they saw me. Play here only if it's the last course on the face of the earth and even then consider tennis first. The owner of this course needs to put some money into some grass seed and weed killer. Calling it a goat ranch would be an insult to goat herders everywhere.
Fun Fast Affordable Golf in OBX
Friendly staff and golfers, good pace and fun layout. Low handicappers will be disappointed with the course but the rest of us can enjoy a fun and affordable round of golf by the beach.
The course was good for the price I paid $15
My son and I enjoy the course for the price we paid $15 each. I would have been disappointed if we had paid any more than that. The front nine was in really bad shape. The back nine was better but not very good. My son and I were talking and saying that its a shame this course has gotten in this shape because it could be a very nice course with some hard work. In fact we feel like they should shut the course down for one year and try to bring it back. Even as bad as it was I would recommend it for the average to below average player if you could play for the price we did.
The greens were the only thing in nice shape
Checked in early and was told to come back in 45 min and he may have a cart for us, there were 9 carts sitting out front, finally after a long wait we checked again and we got a cart, went to first tee, a group was waiting to tee off, they asked us what time our tee time was, ours was at 1:30 they said go ahead ours was 2:00 ,It seems to me they were sending full price people out ahead of us.Making us wait because we had a discounted rate I would Only recommend this course for a discounted rate , it is not worth full price.
Short but challenging course
It was a short course with nice greens but would of enjoyed it if distance markers were more easly noticble since first time player. all in all it was a friendly course to play on the fly.
fun to play with buddies if u wanna save a few bucks
Fun to play with your buddies if u wanna play cheap and just have a good time, maybe with a few cold beverages... get a deal on golf now, we paid $13 each... wouldn't have paid more than maybe $20 for the course though.
Needs grounds worked on.
Needs a ranger to keep play moving was disappointed that group in front of us had five people playing and would take second shot while we waited.
The course needs alot of work.
This was the first time playing the course. Nice location however, the course needs alot of maintenance.
Best deal in the OBX
Easy course for a quick round while on vacation. Need to add yardage markers.
Too much money for the course.
The greens fees were originally 59 dollars, but I found a great deal on golfnow. Also found a promo code for half off so that helped. The course was in fair shape. The greens were small and the fairways weren't the best. This course was OK for the average golfer who wants to drink beer and have fun. If I had to pay full price, I would have went down the road a couple of miles and spent the extra 10 dollars for a nicer course.
This course needs a lot of work.
This course is not in good shape by any standards, should be rated only one star.
It does not have a ball cleaner on most holes. The pro-shop staff was not very friendly or helpful. There are very few signs directing you to the holes and all signs are barely readable. The fairways and greens are in rough shape. It is definitely a beginners only course and not worth the money being charged.
Save your money and visit a local driving range.
This course is a hay field. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were in terrible shape. Yardages are different on the card verses the boards on tees. Course is poorly marked. Staff not friendly. There were a couple of positives. Carts were very nice and clean (cart guy needs tipped). Took out a personal cooler. Coarse was not crowed (positive and a negative). Pay an additional 25 bucks and play a nice course!
This course is a waste
This course is an ok course for beginners to go to, but if you want a decent place for a decent price do not resort to here. Greens look like a tye-dye tee shirt and fairways cannot be differentiated from the rough.
Not Good
This course is a short course that driver out of your hands on many holes. It is also not maintained very well. For $60 I would expect a lot better. I will not play it again. They should be charging about $25 not $60.
