Fun course close to the OBX
Nice course for the price and to be able to play while in OBX. Was a forgiving for myself being a beginner. The layout was a bit odd but overall a great day on the course. Will definitely go back next vacation.
Fairways are pretty sandy throughout, and very patchy. Greens were SUPER rough. Beverage Cart never made it out.
Holly Ridge GC
Good course if you need to just knock off the rust or work on your game. Course itself is not in good shape. Greens had just aerated and sanded. Fairways Avery thin and overrun with anthills. On plus side, we were basically on course by ourselves , so no one pushing us, even though we still played in 3 1/2 hours. Enjoyable day.!
Review
This is a course I play when visiting the outer Banks. It appears to be under new management and I see that there are improvements being made. Greens could be a little bigger and fairways over seeded to promote more grass growth. Overall it's a course I would recommend and play again .
Friendly staff, very accommodating, able to rent clubs. Be back next year.
Friendly staff
The course had not fully grown in for the season, so the fairways were kind of sparse. Even so, during full summer, this course probably would not be lush and pristine. That said, if you want to play near the OBX, this is the most reasonably priced course around. The staff is very friendly and it has a good driving range.
This course is fine if you're a beginner but now way is this course worth $70
First time at Holly RIdge
Perfect for those just starting out. Harder than it looks because of some narrow windows. Not just driver and iron holes. Not very busy on a Monday and we did not have to wait or be pushed by others There is hidden water so know where you are hitting.
Backyard course
This course looked like it was in someone backyard. Greens were small and fast! The fairways and tee boxes were nonexistent and don’t even get me started on the bunkers. This course is worth half of what you pay. Only nice thing about the course were the staff were friendly and pace was good. I recommend this course to someone that is new to the game and is just trying to get out there.
Didn’t like the fact that a large party of 12 plus went off before me but they let our twosome start on #7 and we never saw anyone or had to wait so that was very nice of them. Got a little slow when we turned to #1 but it wasn’t bad wait
Nice course for the money.
With all the ridiculously priced courses around this one was not and offers a nice day out on the course without getting robbed. Greens were a little high (slow) and bunkers (not many) need some attention. Overall I like the the course which at times was tight, but mainly wide open.
Underrated
I have played this course at least once every year for the past 28 yrs when I vacation in OBX for a week. Each of the last 8 or so years I have seen improvement in the quality and condition of the course. The staff is very friendly. It is a great course to knock any cobwebs you might have.
After playing here, we always play The Pointe, Kilmarlick, and Carolina Club. All nicer and more challenging courses, but you pay for that. This course is underrated in my opinion and a great value.
Great value for money
Only course in the area that’s not $125+ in the summer. Better than you’d expect as well. Tiny greens but a solid course overall. No frills, sand traps are not great, but simply don’t go in the sand and you’re good. Lol
