Great full size 9 hole
As a beginner I have played a few other 9 hole courses which were just pitch and putt. I enjoyed this 9 hole with full length holes. Enough variety and challenge here. Narrow fairways make accuracy a must. Par 5 to end was great too.
Not good
All tee boxes were absolutely dreadful. Huge divots in them all. Fairways were soaking and muddy. Greens were covered in earthworm casts and were patching. Then I got to the 6th hole and because of the gas pipeline works…..it was a 200 yard par 4, not too bad but then the 8th was a 95 yard par 4 lol. No warning from the clubhouse. Which isn’t very welcoming anyway.
Good cheap option for 9 holes
Didn’t drain great in places so was wet. Big stones in the bunkers. There were tee boxes for white tees but none laid out so the course played really short off the yellows. It didn’t make sense as you could see it would be a much more challenging and interesting course off the back tees.
Will be perfect when summer comes!
Lovely little course. Was very waterlogged when I played, not the course’s fault, so there were some mats for tees. Nice layout. Very good pace. 18 holes in 180 mins. Description was a little misleading, as it made it seem like you could play nine and then just play another nine if you wanted to. The staff mentioned that they had spoken to Golf Now about this but it hadn’t been updated. Another 9 holes was possible… However there was an upgrade charge of £10, making it £27 for 18 holes. Would happily come back down when the conditions are drier, as that will be a fair representation of how good the course can be. Thanks for having me.
Disappointing
The course is incredibly wet with large pools of water on certain holes. It is a real shame that the course has been changed from holes 5,6&7 making the course and holes shorter due to external works being carried out.
A really nice afternoon.
Probably my favourite course, a lovely afternoon and good value.
Horrible
Booked in for Sunday and when went for check in came to know that only four holes were available to play as the rest were on maintenance and was asked to play the 4 holes twice and a complimentary coffee. U having a laugh. Staff was rude and said ask golf now for refund if u don't want to play. Pathetic. Waiting for my refund now
Very nice course
I played this course for first time recently, despite the weather it is a lovely course which in Spring/summer should be excellent. No complaints about the course itself as even though we had a lot of rain recently the greens & fairways were in very good condition.
Beautiful course
One of the best 9 hole courses I have played out of around 10 different courses. Fairways and greens are perfect and looked after very good. Some tricky holes but a very exciting course overall.
Difficult game
The course was waterlogged and the grass was long so difficult to play. Also didn’t help that the grass was being cut whilst playing. The grass cutter stopped next to us twice waiting for us to play - very off putting!
The course was water logged and the grass was long which made for a difficult game. Not the clubs fault but the awful weather we have experienced.
However it didn’t help that whilst playing they were cutting the grass and the grass cutter stoped next to us with mower running whilst we were taking our shot! Very off putting! this happened twice on the same hole 😩
Course in great condition
This is a good little course, both for those newish to golf and those who play more and trying to lower their handicap. Not seen the course massively busy, but as there are all levels and ages sometimes play can be a bit slow. But for the price and ondition of the course we'll worth a round. Especially if you play well!
Good course but very slow
Overall this is a short, tricky course in very good condition. Very good greens and fairways for the money and punitive short but juicy rough if you miss them.
There is a good putting green and very rustic, but usable warm up net, and a well stocked bar.
Only quibbles are
1) The terrible pace of play: 2 1/2 hours for the front 9 for a Tuesday late morning/early afternoon. (1 1/2 hours for the back 9 once the backlog had disappeared)
2) The transparency of the price: you only pay for 9 holes on GolfNow (not shown until you have paid) but can pay £10 for another 9 holes once you are there.
My friend and I play here every week. It is a nice 9 hole course for 2 women to play.
The only negative is the grass in places is very long and it is difficult to locate balls at times.
