Great course
Given the recent heavy rains, the course has held up really well with impressively fast greens! Great layout with some interesting holes, the 17th and 18th are really spectacular. Looking forward to playing in dryer weather.
Course condition
The course stays dry in the wet winter months. Greens are very good and quick
Play here quit regualary good course and good value. Always a friendly welcome and for a Sunday afternoon not to busy.
Blakes
Some bunkers are Gur but otherwise course is in good condition. A links style course with some very interesting holes.
A bit wet
Weather was good, but it was muddy on the course. But I would suppose after so much rain. Pace was good despite a lot of peoples.
I would recommend to have I go
Poor experience
Starter advised as booked through GolfNow the owner didn’t like GolfNow and should of booked directly as a result he would have to pair us up and not let us tee off prior to tee time although no-one waiting, similar conservation with group behind who had also booked through GolfNow. Paired us up and they did not make tee time so went off. Caught us up on 3rd hole and said we had to wait for other 2 as late - resulting in holding up play albeit no one in front. My advice is don’t book here through GolfNow
Really solid
Blakes is a really good links style golf course. I have played there a couple times with friends. I would say a week day is best for pace of play. It has pretty much everything you could ask for Really. Really well maintained and greens roll really well too.
Highly suggest.
Blakes
I have always been fascinated with this course and its links style. I am not a member anywhere and play various courses across Herts and North London, and Blakes has always been under my radar. I took a week off and decided to play different courses each day. I have covered 4 courses so far, one of these Blakes, and found out it is the best course at this time of the year. This is because Blakes has its links style and you do not have to play all the leaves and mud, which were in abundance on every other course I played not only this week, but throughout the autumn. Also, the course is in a very good state. Fairways are nicely cut towards the line of the greens. The greens are also very good. I remember times when the greens were letting down this course, but the new management has taken care and improved them a lot. I highly recommend Blakes and I am off for another round today!!!!
Fun challenge & great value
First time playing the course. Wind was really up so made for a real challenge. Course condition (tees & greens) we’re struggling a bit after the summer we had. Overall though, I enjoyed the round & would certainly come back.
