Slow, building site
Firs time playing here, was recommended by friends. Was waiting on every tee seems like the course was packed. Looked like there's a lot of changes to the course, which haven't held up well in the weather. Very wet and muddy; wouldn't play here again until the course has been improved/renovated, and in dryer weather.
Enjoyable
Many thanks to all the staff on & off the course, we had a very enjoyable round
Potential to be great.
Lots of work going on to improve the course, I’m sure in the future this will be a great golf course. Our over all experience on the day was poor due to the lack of course management, the play in front was so slow that after the 9th we decided to call it a day. 2.5 hours on the front and a queue on the 10th. Hoping to return and have a better day out on the course.
Never Again!
We had played this course in the prior April, which had followed an exceptionally wet Winter/Spring period, and we had really enjoyed the experience, which is what had led us to return for another round. However, we couldn't understand why the course was so muddy this second time, and I mean questioning whether it should have been open at all, because I don't consider recent rainfall to have been to of any significant level. I think the course must have major problems with drainage, especially as it was even very boggy in the higher areas of the course, we suspected a heavy clay soil type to be a contributory factor.
In addition, the course was still in the process of some major landscaping changes, and there were some changes to the hole layout. The most noticeable difference is a signicant distance between finishing on one green and walking extraordinary lengths to the next tee. This seemed to add greatly to the overall length of the course and the time required to play a round. Also, and very annoyingly, GPS hole layout postions were not up to date, which meant my Garmin watch information was not only irrelevant, but very difficult to record scoring.
It was a far cry from a relaxing golf day out!
Keep it updated!
Course has always been a tough track. But it doesn’t help when they don’t give you hole maps at each tee so you know where to hit it!!! Very frustrating! Was very boggy also.
Great starter and helpful ball spotter on the 1st!
Easy check in, quick practice, then across to the first!
Lovely starter, helpful, friendly and easy to chat to...great start, likewise the ball spotter, makes so much sense on this tough blind opening hole!
Following a 3 ball in 2 carts, balls flying everywhere out on the course, no shouts of Fore at any point, some going that wild off hole 6s tee box they'd have ended up on the 4th green/ again from hole 9 on to 8s green, could've wiped someone out easily....just oblivious and obnoxious....witnessed most of their tee shots as it was so slow out there... waiting every tee, then next shot etc...crazy, just under a 5 hour round!
Positives were it was nice to see so much work has been done and the new holes come into play on Monday!
The 2 new ones we played were ok, 8 looks beautiful but tricky as it narrows towards the green.
Unsure if 9 is permanent or not as there's then 2 par 3s back to back?
Could be a decent place to play as it's in no way easy, stroke index 1 is a beast off the whites into wind....
Where it suffers is indeed the usual lack of respect for other golfers! Not shouting fore, repairing pitch marks, racking bunkers, leaving litter same crap different course!
Easy to lose a few balls here if slightly off line, along with danger in the form of water! Especially holes 1/2/18....
Can't wait to play when it's quieter and a week day...
Might be worth considering 10 minutes between tee times!? Certainly helps spread people out on the course....
Worth a visit, just don't go on the weekend....unless you take a crossword with you!
Good knock
Course in great condition. Layout is a bit scattered. Will be a great course when that’s sorted. Some very good holes requiring some thought by the player which is good.
Will definitely play it again.
Long afternoon
Played Boundary a few times over past couple years as it's a recipricol at my old club. Always enjoyed it there but after 2.5 hours for the first 9 realised it was going to be a long old afternoons round. Never seen a course so congested and in the end took 4:45 for a 2 ball which would have been longer had it not been for a couple of groups and members in front walking off. In saying that there was a society out which I guess is rare for a Sunday afternoon and that added to the business. With a few back to back par 3's and short par 4's and the number of people on course it was always going to be like that I guess. Course itself and the work that's going on there has the makings of an amazing course when its completed but dont think i'll be back until then. Luckily it was a £20 hot deal so absolutely got our moneys worth being out on course 😂👌🏽
I will definitely return
A great short course with excellent fast greens and a variety of terrain to male you think.
Absolutely loved playing the course, reason for the lowered stars are there's still quite a bit of work going on around the course and it'll be 4/5s across the board once this is finished.
Signage could do with improving on approach to course and to first tee but once you're on the course it flows nicely.
I'm a high handicapper and whilst there are sporting hazards they're not sufficient to ruin a round and areas are well managed meaning straying into the trees doesn't guarantee a lost ball.
Will definitely be back again.
Fantastic course
Played on the hottest day of the year as a 4 ball and decided to carry instead of taking a trolley. This was a mistake as the course is surprisingly hilly. It would have been a perfect day apart from the lack of on course watering hole and the 9th being a long way from the club house. A half way house is needed.
The course itself was in prime condition and greens were immaculate on every hole. There is lots of works in progress building new T boxes but this is well managed and does not hinder play at all.
Overall for the money it’s well worth it and will play again soon.
Great Golf Day
Lovely course , good holes , testing and fun - what a bonus to watch Hampshire v Surrey after , great day out
Good first round of the year
Greens where perfectly kept. Some of the fairways like wet but can’t complain for the time of year.
Boundary lakes golf course
The setting and location of this course is very good, it's got an elevated location next the hampshire cricket ground. My only criticism is that is some ground work going on near some of the holes.
