About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Golfer Reviews
Immaculate Course Awesome Layout
Of course it's always in phenomenal shape. The greens Fairways and tea boxes are immaculate. It's a challenging course with phenomenal scenery and every hole is challenging but fun
Outstanding Value, Great Condition
I have played pecan Hollow before. Despite the intense heat and lack of rain lately, the course was in outstanding shape. No bare spots on the greens which were quite fast even in the afternoon round. Everything was in tiptop shape. Very reasonable price and a great value for the money.
Golf Cart GPS
The carts will not go everywhere that they need to go. The cart will shut down if you get even a little off of the path in many places. Please let the carts go everywhere or at least limit the restrictions of where the cart can go. Some older people need the cart to have access to the course.
Another great day at Pecan Hollow
Pace better than usual, which is always pretty good. Greens in very good shape, especially considering the heat.
Lovely track
I’d heard really good things about Pecan Hollow from family members who’d played recently. This course did not disappoint. Pretty good challenge for a high handicapper but fair. Greens were in excellent shape as were the fairways. Gets a lot of play but they clearly take excellent care of it. Highly recommend.
Super value
From the spacious practice area to the multiple tee boxes for any ability, Pecan Hollow did not disappoint on my first visit. The course was in great shape and plays very fair with welcome fairways and large greens.
The GPS system was underwhelming so I’d recommend a phone based app for improved course information. The clubhouse won’t impress anyone but Sara the cart girl was friendly and a frequent stop during our round.
I’ll definitely return based on overall value, location and pace of play.
played both Saturday 5/28 and Monday 5/30
great value. best greens in town. great layout. would help to have martial out on course to keep pace of play up, but everything else was great
Great for cost
Haven’t been to the course in a few years. Noticed some updates. Fairway and greens were good. For the cost is definitely one of the better courses to play. Fair off the tee and several tees to choose from based on skill level. Looking forward to going back.
Average
Easy layout, extremely slow pace of play, heavy rains earlier in the week made things soggy but to be expected. Do wish they moved the dead fish out of the 7th fairway
First time
Greens were great. Course was in great shape and challenging. Will play again asap.
