Pecan Hollow Golf Course
About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Great Track
Had fun, love the layout. A few rough greens and fairways but great value for the money.
Slow Play and lightning greens
5 People in the group ahead. One non player. Unbelievably slow. Got concerned when I saw 3 carts half way down the fairway and 3 people on the green. then they realised that they had forgotten on cart. Quite funny.
Greens are lightning fast but a couple of greens need serious repair work from the winter frost.
First Time
Best warm up area I’ve ever seen… pitching greens, putting greens, driving range; great place to work on the short game and swing. You’ll need it out on this course; Difficult but not to difficult for the experienced golfer. Fairways are fairly tight and hard so hit that driver straight. Greens are playing fast right now. Course challenged me enough to make me want to come back for more. Great shape and recommend playing before the late dry summer takes hold.
It keeps me making the drive from Rockwall to Plano!
I am 57, played semi-competitive golf. former scratch, lowest person round in tourney play is 66. Coming back after a 6 year illness, losing 55lbs, then double hernia surgery and this golf course, a part of my healing process. I play at least 6 courses within 15 minutes and I will keep making the drive back to Pecan Hallow. About 30 years or so ago, I stood in that muni and watch Tiger Woods come back from 4 down during in the USAM while it was pouring rain at Plano Muni.... The Greens have come a long way and are why. Firewheel Bridges and Pecan Hallow are the two finest of the North Texas public VALUE courses in my opinion. Greens that Rival Heritage Ranch! Practice area, above average, staff in pro shop, top notch. Bar area, maybe it was just an off day. Great Chicken Sandwiches and cold beverages. They sell "aiming" fluid there also! We're were behind two groups with some a bit more mature than us and we waited some, but a good breeze and great fellowship made it perfect. I always bring my own water but saw cart girl 3 times i believe. Played with two buddies and a single and we had a great time. Fairways are coming in, so is the rough... (hint) hit it straight:) Worth getting by!
4 Stars for Pecan Hollow
4 Stars for Pecan Hollow. Everything was good and no complaints. We would definitely play it again. Pace of play was good for a Saturday morning, course conditions were good overall, staff in the pro shop and the grill were friendly and professional, we liked the course layout and thought it was a good value for the money, the clubhouse was nice but average. The golf carts were fast and clean.
Best public course around
For a public course, this PH is always kept in great condition! It’s a challenging course but not too difficult.
Review
Good course for money but golf carts never stop beeping it’s so annoying
Good Shape
Coirse is in good shape and the pace of play was good. Will play again.
Great course. Greens are a +. Driving range and practice facilities good.
Greens always consistent and one of the reasons to come back. However, a few greens, like hole 2 need repair. Especially like the par 5' s. Putting greens need more holes.
Great considering the rain
Course dried out well considering the rain the day before, which is usually not the case. Greens are in great condition as is most of the course.
