About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Golfer Reviews
Unmatched Quality
Place is always unreal. Greens immaculate, hole layouts unmatched, and service is always incredible. Absolutely one of my favorite places to play. Cant wait to go back.
Crab Grass
Generally great greens out here, but crab grass patches make them bumpy. Hopefully just seasonal…
Fun course, nice layout
Course conditions for the dormant season were fine. Greens in great shape and fairways ran out nicely. We’ll be back again for another day
overall experience
Pecan Hollow is a great value for the fee you pay and the folks there are doing a masterful job keeping the course in good condition as winter approaches. Greens were the best I have played in a while when visiting the Dallas area and I have played many courses around the north Dallas area. Right now there are none that compare with Pecan Hollow when you consider the value.
Excellent round for the money
An occasional round at Pecan Hollow quickly reminds you why it's so enjoyable and should be considered more often. For December, the course was in excellent shape - far better than others played nearby recently, the staff was nice, and the pace of play for a 75 degree Friday afternoon was perfect. Fairways and greens were good for the time of year The additional touches ere are great. A nice driving range, good chipping area, huge putting green, and the carts with GPS are added bonuses to the course. We'll be back.
Great course
Great course. One of best layouts in DFW. Pace of play average. Little pricy, but conditions are always good if weather is not too wet. Appreciate the recent cleanup of tall brush around most holes.
Cold and Rainy
Had a great time today, but unfortunately we did not finish due to weather conditions. Tee’d off on 16, then it began to put buckets.
