One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

One of best courses in PLANO GARLAND ROWLETT area
One of my favorites. Great greens nice fairways. Very consistent. Little pricey, but worth it. Great guys in pro shop.
Better than Expected…
We had 8 people playing with back to back tee times at this course…finished the round in just over 4 hours which is right on track, especially because it was pretty packed starting out.
I have to say the course was in great condition and only a little wet from all the rain the prior 3-4 days before our tee times.
I have driven by the course more times than I can count…not anymore…I will play this course again and recommend to many more.
We had 4 Allen American Hockey players in our group, they were having a blast as well…so all in all this was a great day to play a round.
Great Course~!
I dig this course, the way it sets up. There's not a single hole that seems extraordinary but there's none that felt like an afterthought either. If you're playing well you can score here, if not, it's difficult. Kind of the way a course should be.
Maintenance is great---greens were quick and true, fairways are looking closer to lush again, tee boxes were good and the bunkers were full and actually sandy (unlike so many others).

Playing a-round at Pecan Hollow
We don’t get to play here often enough. Always great conditions and great staff. Pace of play is excellent and overall great value for your dollar.
Only negative is slow play
Tee times are 7 minutes apart. Numerous holes had three groups waiting to tee off. No marshal to speed up play. 5 hours to play 18 holes.
Solid guy old course
Course was still dormant but greens were very good.

Dormant Bermuda grass make it almost unplayable - definitely unenjoyable
