About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Golfer Reviews
4 Stars for Pecan Hollow
4 Stars for Pecan Hollow. Everything was good and no complaints. We would definitely play it again. Pace of play was good for a Saturday morning, course conditions were good overall, staff in the pro shop and the grill were friendly and professional, we liked the course layout and thought it was a good value for the money, the clubhouse was nice but average. The golf carts were fast and clean.
Best public course around
For a public course, this PH is always kept in great condition! It’s a challenging course but not too difficult.
Review
Good course for money but golf carts never stop beeping it’s so annoying
Good Shape
Coirse is in good shape and the pace of play was good. Will play again.
Great course. Greens are a +. Driving range and practice facilities good.
Greens always consistent and one of the reasons to come back. However, a few greens, like hole 2 need repair. Especially like the par 5' s. Putting greens need more holes.
Great considering the rain
Course dried out well considering the rain the day before, which is usually not the case. Greens are in great condition as is most of the course.
Fair
Not in great shape. Greens used to be perfect, not so much anymore. Winter storms seem to have hit this place hard. A lot of dead spots everywhere. Fine to play once a year or so. Nothing memorable.
Not great
Some creature is eating away at some of the greens. The greens that were playable were great. Fairs were the worst I’ve ever played on. Don’t let the grass on them fool you. They are hard as a rock. They knocked the club out of my hands a couple of times
Great Course
Had a great time. It was a little crowded. We waited to tee off every time, but it was still a nice day!
No Drainage or Cart Staff
We’ve had some rain the last two months but it had not rained in 5 days. Some holes were unplayable due to amount of standing water and mud. No modern drainage on this older course. No cart staff anywhere and it was the hottest day of the year. On course water coolers did not have cold water, honestly, it may have been leftover from day before.
Too wet to play
I believe this course should have been closed because it was way too wet for play. Very disappointing.
Pace
Pace of play is bad. They have no Marshall’s to curb this, it might help.
Course in good shape, need something done about pace of play
Twilight Round
Tee time set for 5:30 but we were able to tee off about 15 mins early. Course was in good overall condition. Our group of 4 had a great time trying to beat the sunset. We got 14 of the 18 in before it was too dark to see the balls. Will play again if in the area. Great value for twilight.
Better than most in town
Greens had some bare spots, but better than most courses in town right now. Faitways and tees in good shape. Bunkers get neglected by players on this muni. Nice selection of holes. Quick greens. Pace was good despite course being full. Definitely a good value.
